Christine McGuinness has announced that she has quit the current series of Celebs Go Dating, just days after the line-up was announced and filming was already underway
Reality TV sensation Christine McGuinness has dropped a bombshell, revealing she’s bowing out of Celebs Go Dating just as filming for the new series kicked off.
The starlet shared a statement about her sudden exit, hinting at a personal revelation during production. The 37 year old blonde beauty was unveiled as part of the star-studded line-up last week, set to grace the fourteenth series of the E4 hit alongside celebs like Kerry Katona. Filming had already started, with the cast reportedly jetting off to Ibiza for some sun-soaked scenes.
However, in a surprising twist, Christine took to her Instagram Story to announce that she’s decided to step back from the dating show mid-production. She confessed to her followers that despite having “great intentions”, she feels the experience is “too soon” for her.
In her heartfelt statement, Christine explained: “I joined Celebs Go Dating with great intentions but have realised that dating on a public platform and the attention that brings is just too soon for me. They’ve said the door is always open for me which I’m so grateful but for now I’m returning home to my family.”
A spokesperson for Celebs Go Dating responded with a statement expressing their appreciation for Christine and respect for her decision. They stated: “We have loved having Christine on the show and completely respect her feelings and decision to return home and have told her that the door is always open for her in the future at the agency.”, reports the Mirror.
Three years after her split from Paddy McGuinness, Christine has joined the cast of Celebs Go Dating. The former couple, parents to three children, announced their separation in 2022.
Since ending her relationship with TV host Paddy, the model has been linked to other romantic interests. Upon announcing her participation in Celebs Go Dating, Christine admitted she hasn’t “really dated much before” but is excited for a “summer of fun”.
On joining the reality show, she expressed: “I’m really excited to be joining the agency, I’m going to have a summer of fun! Who knows what might happen? I’ve not really dated much before, so I feel like I’m doing a crash course!”.
In a statement released last week, Christine added: “I’m looking forward to getting to know the other celebs and I’m especially looking forward to the coaching side of things with the agents. I think that’s going to be good for me.”
The new series of Celebs Go Dating, featuring a “brand-new agency,” revealed its line-up last week. Six celebrities were named initially, with another reportedly signing up later.
Joining Christine are Atomic Kitten’s Kerry Katona, who first appeared on the show in 2019, Too Hot To Handle’s Louis Russell, Love Island’s Olivia Hawkins, and S Club’s Jon Lee.
The Chase’s very own ‘Beast’, Mark Labbett, is set to unleash his charm on the dating scene as it was previously spilled that he’ll be joining the agency later on. In a juicy bit of goss, it’s been dished out that Made in Chelsea’s posh lad Sam Prince has hopped onto the love wagon as a “last minute” addition to the line-up.
