EXCLUSIVE: Dancing On Ice winner James Jordan has shared his hot take on the ITV show which could be facing an axe after raking in it’s lowest-ever figures since it began
Dancing On Ice could be facing the chop after securing it’s lowest-ever viewing figures since the show began in 2006.
This year, the show could only manage 2.9 million for the launch of the show, and by the fifth episode another half a million viewers had melted away, leaving just 2.4 million watching.
In collaboration with https://www.skyvegas.com/games/slots, 2019 Dancing On Ice winner James Jordan has weighed in on what he thinks the show needs before it’s taken off screens.
Former pro Strictly dancer James told us: “I’m a massive fan of Stephen [Mulhern] and Holly [Willoughby], but I do think the show needs a bit of a shake-up. I love people like Bradley Walsh – I don’t know if he’d be right for Dancing on Ice, but I just think he’s an incredible presenter.
“He’s real, he’s funny, and he’s absolutely brilliant at what he does. Ashley [Banjo] – I’ve seen him present and host different things, and I think he’d be great. Not taking anything away from Stephen, but I do feel it’s time for some changes.
“When Diversity came on and performed – mixing dance with ice skating – that whole routine was epic. It gave me goosebumps. It was so clever, and Ashley is incredibly talented to be able to choreograph something like that. The way it transitioned seamlessly from dance to skating – I just loved it. It was such an amazing performance, and we need more moments like that on TV.”
He added: “I’m a massive fan of Dancing on Ice because I’ve done it, I’ve been involved, and I just feel like it’s missing something. Maybe Ashley needs to become a creative director on the show and have more involvement in what the skaters are doing. Sometimes, I feel the routines aren’t as strong as they could be – not taking anything away from anyone involved – but I do think there’s room for growth.”
When asked if he would be up for joining the judging panel himself, answered: “I would consider taking on the role of a judge [on Dancing on Ice] if they asked me. So many people tell me I’d be great at it.
“People love hearing my opinions – that’s why they want me to do columns and post on social media. It’s because I’m not afraid to tell the truth, even if it upsets some people. If you ask for my opinion, you don’t have to agree with it, but it is just that – my opinion.”
