Dancing on Ice stars ‘already filming’ documentary set for prime time ITV slot

EXCLUSIVE: Two Dancing On Ice stars have “already begun filming” a documentary for ITV, which will reportedly broadcast on the channel in a prime time slot later this year

Two Dancing on Ice stars are filming a documentary for ITV.

Skating icons Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean rose to fame after winning gold at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics and becoming the highest-scoring figure skaters of all time for a single programme.

The double act danced to Maurice Ravel’s Bolero and were watched by a British audience of more than 24 million people. The Olympics event was one of the most-watched in the United Kingdom and the pair later scored even higher at the 1984 World Championships.

Torvill and Dean were convinced to come out of retirement to take part in ITV’s Dancing On Ice, which was recently cancelled.

The pair’s career was portrayed in the 2018 biographical film Torvill and Dean, but now they have agreed to let a camera crew follow them for a new show, which is being made for ITV.

An insider said: “Torvill and Dean jumped at the chance to make the documentary. It’s the perfect way to celebrate all the success they’ve had together.”

“Filming has already started. Everyone involved is really excited about it.”

The show will follow Torvill and Dean on their farewell tour, which kicks off later this month. It will feature behind-the-scenes footage of the pair as they perform their last shows before retiring from skating altogether.

The insider added: “This documentary is going to capture their final performances. It’s going to mark the end of an era.”

The documentary will feature interviews with a raft of loved ones and co-stars, which will include pro skaters and celebs who worked with them on Dancing on Ice.

The documentary will reportedly air during a prime time slot later in 2025

Executives at ITV are convinced the show will be a ratings hit and is set to air in a primetime slot later this year.

Jayne and Christopher assumed roles as head judges on Dancing On Ice alongside Jason Gardiner and Ashley Banjo for the 2018 revival series.

In 2020, John Barrowman replaced Jason before Oti Mabuse took over the role a year later. Following Phillip Schofield’s resignation in 2023, Stephen Mulhern took over alongside original host Holly Willoughby, however in March 2025 it was announced that Dancing On Ice will be “rested” in 2026.

There are no plans for another series, much to the dismay of loyal ITV viewers.
