WWE titan and Hollywood star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news that his beloved French bulldog, Hobbs, has passed away
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been left heartbroken by the death of his beloved dog Hobbs.
The 52-year-old WWE legend recently returned to the ring once again after his dramatic return last year. However, the Hollywood hard-man and Disney star has been hit by the devastating loss of his French bulldog, Hobbs.
The Rock took to Instagram on Tuesday (February 25) to announce Hobbs had passed away, telling fans he’d been “numb over this loss”. The star posted a series of adorable photos and videos of him and Hobbs as a touching tribute.
He wrote: “RIP [broken heart emoji] Hobbs. I’ve been numb over this loss, but we’re so grateful for every ounce of pure love he gave our entire family and we’re so grateful he didn’t suffer long as he quietly and bravely left in the night.
“Lately, there’s been a lot that’s too big to talk about. Lonesome, lonely, heard it’s all the same. One of my favorite songs felt appropriate here, as I wonder what’s going on his new world, because I know what it’s like in mine. Not sure how spirits work but come back and visit every once in a while so we can get in trouble and laugh again.”
One heart-wrenching video of the pair saw Dwayne lying on the floor with his head resting gently on the back of his dear dog. He also shared a sweet polaroid picture of Hobbs, and one snap showing the pup resting a paw on Dwayne’s arm.
Fans were gutted by the news and rushed to the comments to send the star messages of support at such a difficult time. One wrote: “so sorry to hear this Dwayne. I lost my 10 y/o frenchie 6 weeks ago today so I know exactly how you feel & how much it hurts [broken heart emoji]. Find comfort in knowing that you gave him the best life possible and that he passed peacefully.”
Another commented: “Sorry for your loss. I know how it feels when you lose a pet.” A third penned: “He lived in love, that’s what’s important. RIP [heart amoji]”.
Dwayne adopted Hobbs and his brother, Brutus, three years before the release of of the 2019 film Hobbs & Shaw, a spin-off of the Fast and Furious franchise. Sadly, Brutus died shortly after he was adopted, but Hobbs went on to appear in the movie with Dwayne.
