Emmerdale fans reckon Joe Tate’s days are numbered, suspecting he won’t pull through after his kidney transplant in a grim turn of events set up by Dr Crowley.

Recently, word spread that Joe (Ned Porteous) was in dire need of a kidney transplant or faced an untimely end as his body deteriorated.

His first target was his half-brother Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), but blood ties weren’t enough to make a match, dragging Joe to conspire against his uncle Caleb Miligan (William Ash).

A bungled attempt to spike Caleb’s drink sent Joe down a brutish path, roping in his thuggish mate Shaun to knife Caleb and take his car.

By Thursday night (March 27), Joe’s doctor, Dr Crowley (James Hillier), could barely watch as he battled to keep Caleb kicking and take a kidney for Joe.

With Caleb almost biting the dust from just one knife wound, fans were sweating over his odds of survival, reports Leeds Live.

But come Friday, viewers learned Caleb had made it through by the skin of his teeth; meanwhile, Joe had nabbed his kidney in an operation. Still, Emmerdale fans aren’t buying what Dr Crowley’s reassurance.

They’ve got this hunch he took Caleb’s damaged kidney, post-stabbing, saying it’s all good, and this is gonna be Joe’s downfall.

On Facebook, one sleuth reckoned: “My theory is that Joe received Caleb’s damaged kidney and it’s going to fail… Devine Retribution.”

Another person weighed in, saying: “Good serve him right.”

A third added their voice to the mix: “We can only hope that it doesn’t work and his put himself and others at risk. Karma will prevail in the end.”

Someone else noted a detail that might change the perspective: “The kidney wasn’t damaged.”

While another clarified the potential consequences: “But it could still fail. The police will want Joe as a witness to the attack and what are they going to say = sorry he is in hospital after a kidney transplant lol.”

And there was no holding back from one commenter who didn’t mince words: “I hope it does horrible man.”
