Kitchen Nightmares star Gordon Ramsay has reportedly distanced himself from former co-star Gino D’Acampo, who has been accused of sexually inappropriate behaviour
Gordon Ramsay reportedly cut ties with Gino D’Acampo after allegedly raising concerns about his behaviour two years ago.
Gino, 48, has been accused of “sexually inappropriate behaviour” with claims from “dozens” of people spanning over 12 years. The TV chef’s alleged conduct has been described as “unacceptable, distressing and horrendous” and now ITV has pulled the star’s shows from their schedule.
The claims emerged from an ITV News probe and come from people who allegedly worked with Gino. He has “firmly denied” the allegations and said they are “deeply upsetting”.
Sources suggest ITV has interviewed over 40 people as part of its investigation into the ITV star. These individuals are said to have witnessed or been on the receiving end of Gino’s alleged inappropriate actions.
Gordon and Gino used to be pals and the pair starred together with Fred Sirieix on their ITV travel show Gordon, Gino & Fred’s Road Trip. However, it’s claimed Ramsay has distanced himself from D’Acampo and is “no longer on speaking terms” with him after raising “concerns” about the chef’s behaviour.
“Gordon was horrified with what had gone on and felt it was time to step in and stop it,” a source told MailOnline. “He has three daughters and a wife, Tana, whom he absolutely adores. He felt it was disgusting. He wanted to change those ways, but it led to difficulties between them.”
“Gordon found a lot of unacceptable behaviour going on; he saw things he didn’t think were okay, so he spoke up. That was that friendship over.” Insiders claim Ramsay’s concerns about Gino has led to a ‘fractured’ relationship between the two.
It comes after Gordon’s company issued a blunt statement on the allegations against Gino. A statement from Studio Ramsay read: “A statement on the allegations read: “Studio Ramsay have not worked on a series with Gino D’Acampo since 2022. We take all allegations of inappropriate behaviour and workplace misconduct seriously, promptly investigate, and take appropriate remedial action when warranted.”
Denying the accusations, Gino told ITV News, “I have been told by ITN News that allegations have been made about me acting inappropriately, some dating back over ten years.
“I have never been made aware of these matters before, and the allegations are denied. I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature. I do not recognise the version of events being put to me.”
“Not only have these allegations never been raised with me before, but I have also continuously received support from executives at the highest levels and was featured on prime-time programmes during the time it is alleged I behaved incorrectly. As a dedicated father and husband who has worked with over 1,500 individuals across approximately 80 productions throughout my cherished career, such issues are of grave importance to me. The insinuation of impropriety on my part is devastatingly distressing.”
One woman accusing Gino claims she was subjected to lewd comments by Gino D’Acampo in 2011. According to the anonymous female, D’Acampo told her he would “like to turn me over and f*** me up the a*** against the kitchen counter.”
She claims that the comment prompted laughter from crew members, but she also witnessed “shock” and “horror” in their reactions. She said the alleged interaction left her feeling “very, very, very small.”
Gino’s legal representatives said: “This allegation from almost 15 years ago has never, until now via a media request for comment, been raised or put to Mr D’Acampo. He does not recall it, nor accept that this happened. Mr D’Acampo is horrified to be accused of ‘power play’ and an ‘aggressive act’. He emphatically and unequivocally denies these allegations.”
They added: “Mr D’Acampo categorically denies these allegations of inappropriate sexual behaviour. To his knowledge no such allegations have been made against him in relation to his time on ‘Gino’s Italian Express’ and this is the first time, six years later, he has been informed of these alleged incidents, and he does not accept them, not least because some of this is considered by Mr D’Acampo to be a fabricated work of fiction.”
