Months after a socialite allegedly left Gwyneth Paltrow’s home after losing control of his bowels, the Glee star has finally broken her silence on the “cringe” incident
Gwyneth Paltrow has finally broken her silence on rumours a pal pooed in her bed.
Goop creator Gwyneth, 52, is often at the centre of attention as she regularly opens up on her intimate secrets, including how much sex she had whilst filming. But last summer, she was left “horrified” when a pal allegedly pooped on her bed, prompting the culprit to flee from her home in the Hamptons.
Now, months on from the incident, former Glee star Gwyneth has addressed the rumours of the alleged incident, but admitted it filled her with “existential cringe” to talk about. Giving her thoughts in an interview with Vanity Fair, Gwyneth did little to deny the awkward moment as she revealed all she knew.
The perpetrator’s name was not mentioned at all in the article, with the magazine instead referring to him as a “socialite houseguest”. Keeping her comments on the situation short, a “pained” Gwyneth admitted that she was clearly uncomfortable answering the question.
“I understand,” Gwyneth said, “And I also, like am just not going to…”
Interviewer Michelle Ruiz then goes on to say: “She trails off with an existential cringe, saying nothing more. But, I note, not leaping to denying it.”
The incident first hit headlines when a popular gossip newsletter claimed that Gwyneth was forced to clean up an “Ozempic-induced diarrhoea” spasm at her home. While the culprit was not named in the column, insiders revealed to the Daily Mail that it was Derek Blasberg, who was described as “one of showbiz’s most well-connected men”.
Sources added: “It’s not Ozempic, that’s just what he told everyone. Gwyneth told Oprah, Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld, and Larry David,” before speculating he was using his connections to keep the story away from the public eye.
Derek and Gwyneth have been good pals for years, and has on several occasions spent long periods of time with her at her glamorous five-bedroom home in Long Island. The most recent snap of the pair together came in 2022, when the socialite and fashionista caught a pic of him and his best pal as they celebrated her 50th birthday together.
Following the publication of the piece in the gossip column Popbitch, Derek had kept his head down – refusing to address the situation. However, it appears that someone had been trying to reveal him as the mystery pooper after a string of excrement-related emojis were left on the Instagram post of the pair.
Insiders close to Gwyneth previously admitted that she “feels bad” for the socialite after the awkward encounter, but insisted the pair needed to spend time apart for the foreseeable. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the source said that while an awkward topic, both parties will eventually see the lighter side.
“Gwyneth would like to eventually laugh about this with Derek, but currently there is still much embarrassment,” the source claimed. “They both know that if they are ever seen together or if he ever returns to her house, they go out to dinner, it will be the only thing people will be talking about.”
