The Hollyoaks star made a shock comeback to the village after seven years but has now reportedly left the soap, and it’s said their final scenes will be “explosive”
A major Hollyoaks star has reportedly quit the soap and already filmed their final scenes.
Hollyoaks bad boy Freddie Roscoe, played by Charlie Clapham, returned to the soap last year. The soap hunk came back to the village after seven years away, returning after Freddie’s devastating assault storyline.
He made his shocking come back just over a year ago but has now left the soap once again. It’s said he “decided to bow out” of the soap and “spread his wings”.
A source told The Sun: “Charlie has finished his stint filming. He’s hugely popular and everyone’s really sad to see him go but the storyline is great and it was all planned out before his return.
“There’s going to be a big send off for Freddie as the soap ramps up for a huge summer leading to the 30th later this year.”
Freddie first arrived in the village in 2013 and stayed for four years before leaving. His character was forced to go on the run after assaulting the man who raped his on-off partner, Elle Nightingale.
When he came back last year, he married villain Grace Black (Tamara Wall) but ended up cheating on her with Vicky Grant and Mercedes McQueen. He’s been trying to bring down Grace but doesn’t know she has his brother Robbie chained up in a basement – it’s said the storyline will come to a head later this year and lead to Charlie’s exit.
Speaking about Freddie’s return last time around, Charlie told Daily Star “Freddie is at his absolute worst and glorious best when he’s got a few secrets to keep. It’s just one high impact experience after another this time around.
“Before I think we got to see him tread the line being a brother, son and grow up and getting married but this time it’s just fireworks every episode. There’s not one episode where he isn’t fighting. It’s been amazing and it’s like a big family atmosphere, especially amongst the crew.”
It comes after Nikki Sanderson, who plays Maxine Minnerver, left the soap after 12 years. On her exit, she said: “My proudest moments have to be the domestic violence storyline with Jeremy Sheffield, and of course, the phenomenal episode that was The Long Walk Home, both working in conjunction with government’s campaigns to help, protect and save vulnerable people living these horrendous experiences.
“I will miss her and the show so much, but most of all I will miss the extraordinary people who work at Lime Pictures, they are the heartbeat of the show.
“They don’t get the praise they deserve. Hollyoaks can sometimes be given a hard time, but I can honestly say I have spent over a decade working with some of the most talented, creative, kind people.
“Thank you to you all, it’s been an honour working with you.”
