Adolescence has been a huge hit for Netflix, but some viewers were left unimpressed by the ending of the critically-acclaimed drama, which starred Stephen Graham
Netflix’s gripping drama Adolescence has had viewers on the edge of their seats, following the harrowing story of a family dealing with their 13-year-old son’s arrest for the murder of his classmate.
But what some fans are only just clocking onto is that none other than Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt had a hand in bringing this critically-acclaimed series to life.
The show, crafted by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, features Stephen alongside Christine Tremarco from ‘Little Boy Blue’, portraying the troubled parents Eddie and Manda Miller. Their world is turned upside down by the grave accusations against their son Jamie, played by Owen Cooper.
While Stephen and his missus Hannah Walters hold the reins as executive producers for this Netflix venture, they share the spotlight with Academy Award winner Brad Pitt.
The heartthrob from ‘Once Upon A Time in Hollywood’ isn’t just a pretty face; he’s also the brains behind Plan B Entertainment, the production company he set up with his former flame Jennifer Aniston back in 2001.
After their split in 2005, Brad took over the reins of Plan B, steering it to produce Oscar-garnering flicks like 12 Years a Slave, The Departed, and Moonlight, reports the Mirror.
Plan B Entertainment flexed its muscles on Adolescence, with bigwigs Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner getting a nod as executive producers for the Netflix hit.
Social media is abuzz with Netflix bingers highlighting Brad’s stealthy involvement, with tweets popping up like: “Did anyone else notice that Brad Pitt is an executive producer on #Adolescence.”
Another penned: “The acting in adolescence is great but i acc jumped out of my skin when i saw it was produced by brad pitt.”
While some fans were buzzing over the series, others couldn’t help but natter about Brad Pitt’s dodgy past. The Hollywood A-lister, once hitched to Angelina Jolie, faced some pretty grim accusations from his ex-missus last year – she claimed he was a bit hands-on during their marriage, and not in a good way, according to court docs.
In the midst of their barney over who gets the vineyard, Angie’s legal eagles lobbed in claims that Pitt had a bit of a track record for getting physical with her. Of course, Brad wasn’t having any of it and flat-out denied all the nasty allegations.
But the plot thickens, as viewers twigged that Brad Pitt’s got his fingers in the pie of Adolescence as a producer. One viewer was gobsmacked, tweeting: “I’m only one ep into Adolescence and I just couldn’t help but wonder why Brad Pitt, one of the most famous men to be accused of domestic violence against both his ex-wife and their children, decided to produce this project..
“Why is Brad Pitt – an alleged domestic abuse – an executive producer on adolescence???” chimed in another, clearly miffed.
Adolescence has been getting some proper love from the critics since it dropped last week, but not everyone’s chuffed to bits with how it wraps up. One viewer spilled their thoughts online: “Just finished Adolescence on Netflix. The acting was amazing and very good storyline, but the ending could’ve been better in my opinion!”
