Home and Away’s Summer Bay is the telly location most Brits would love to move to.

One in five say they dream of relocating to the sandy beaches of the Aussie soap.

Coming in second is Emmerdale village – home of the farming based soap in the heart of rural Yorkshire with 14% saying they could see themselves fitting right into the hills of the rolling countryside.

In third place was another Aussie favourite – with 12% saying they would love to love to Erinsborough – the fictional home of Australian soap Neighbours.

The data was collated by Compare My Move which showed we are all sick of every day life and bills and love nothing more than to dream of upping sticks for pastures new.

The researchers asked 2,000 Brits where they could see themselves moving to from their favourite TV shows.

In fourth spot was Aidensfield, home of daytime soap fave Heartbeat, and coming in fifth with 10% of the vote was home of cartoon heroes The Simpsons in Springfield.

Co founder of Compare My Move, Dave Sayce, said: “It’s fascinating to see how TV shapes our ideas of the perfect place to live. While some are drawn to beach escapes like Summer Bay, others clearly favour the community spirit of rural dramas like Emmerdale or Neighbours.

“Our survey shows that escapism is alive and well, and that people are dreaming of locations that combine beauty, drama, and a sense of belonging.

“Whether you’re headed for the fictional shores of Summer Bay or just relocating to a new postcode, my top tips for making your home move as smooth as possible are start planning early, declutter before you pack, and label everything.”

It comes as MPs are set to discuss whether parents can take their kids out of school for holiday during term-time.

The hot topic is set for a Parliamentary discussion after a petition sparked by eye-opening stats from Fight School Fines got people talking.

The campaign group’s numbers reveal that your average package holiday price soars by 18% during school hols, with some sunny spots seeing spikes of up to 28% per person.

For many families, sticking to official school break times means shelling out double or even triple the dosh, turning dream holidays into pipe dreams.

Kids are required to be in education from the term after they hit 5 until the last Friday in June of the year they turn 16. If your child skips school, even just for a day, expect a ring from the school asking where they’ve got to.

However, if your little one is under five and still in reception, they can legally bunk off.

Your child can also dodge school if they’re too poorly to attend or if you’ve bagged permission from the school in advance. State school headteachers in England can authorise leave during term-time for “exceptional circumstances”.
