Abz Love has confirmed he is re-joining 5ive – 11 years after quitting the band. The singer, who found fame as part of the group in the 90s, took to Twitter to share the news
90s boyband buffs, get ready to Keep on Movin’ because 5ive is back with a bang!
After an 11-year hiatus, Abz Love has just dropped the bombshell that he’s rejoining the iconic group. Taking to Twitter/X, he had fans in stitches as he cheekily announced his return.
He’ll be hitting the stage once more with bandmates Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, and Scott Robinson to smash out those classic hits. In a nostalgic twist, Abz retweeted his own 2014 exit announcement, adding: “As of today I am once again a member of @itsfiveofficial Thank you to all the fans who support us, I love you all.”
And if that wasn’t enough to send fans into a frenzy, the band’s official account teased them further with a cryptic “Loading…” post dated Thursday.
The fanbase went wild in the comments, with one exclaiming: “It’s happening… it’s really happening!” and another eagerly saying: “Waiting for a J now and a new album.” The mystery around Jason ‘J’ Brown’s involvement remains, but the excitement is palpable, reports the Mirror.
This comes hot on the heels of a TikTok tease from the band, featuring their 1999 chart-topper lyrics on a massive electronic billboard, hinting at something big with: “27.02.25 Loading… itsfiveofficial.com.”
The ’90s heartthrobs from the pop band that stormed the charts, consisting of Ritchie Neville, Abz Love, Jason ‘J’ Brown, Scott Robinson and Sean Conlon, first called it a day back in September 2001 after selling a whopping 20million records. They’ve had a rollercoaster ride since then, with various reunions and line-up shuffles – in 2006 without Sean, and again in 2012 with Sean but minus J.
Drama peaked when Sean, Ritchie and Scott blasted J as a bully during their 2013 trio performance on The Big Reunion. J clapped back at the time, explaining: “I was loud and a bit aggressive at times, and I was physically bigger than them so I can see how that could have been taken a certain way,” but firmly stated: “But never in my mind was I so-called bullying people.”
