Love Island is back on our screens tonight, but not every enthusiast was happy with the launch show, as a certain moment prompted a hugely negative response from viewers.

A series regular that never fails to get fans tweeting up a storm on Monday was “sick of it”. They branded some scenes as “painful” and “unnecessary”, with a few even urging the bosses to put a stop to it.

The issue was the deafening screams from the girls upon entering the villa. As each female contestant was introduced to their new mates before host Maya Jama’s grand entrance, a symphony of shrieks ensued.

The volume skyrocketed with each arrival, leaving many viewers at their wits’ end. Hopping onto social media, exasperated fans pleaded for an end to the yearly ear-splitting tradition, with several grasping for the remote to dial down the din.

One viewer lamented: “8 minutes in and I’m already sick of the screaming.”

According to the Mirror another wrote: “God girls stop screaming!!!!” while a third opined: “All this screaming on entering the villa is so unnecessary, your not 10.”

Another expressed torment: “I can’t bare the screaming,” while one echoed: “The start of the season is always PAINFUL bc of all the damn screaming.”

The chorus of disapproval continued, with someone rejoicing their mute button: “Never been so grateful for the mute button petition to ban screaming next year.”

Another bemoaned: “I just can’t with the screaming! ! !” and yet another remarked: “Why are they screaming so much omg.”

However, the launch night wasn’t without its gripes, as some viewers grew tired of a recurring joke about one contestant’s name. When Shakira made her entrance into the villa and introduced herself to the other Islanders, many couldn’t resist referencing her famous namesake, pop star Shakira.

Each time she mentioned her name, at least one Islander would quip about whether her hips lied, alluding to the singer’s hit song Hips Don’t Lie. One disgruntled fan remarked: “I bet she’s sick to f*** off hearing ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ cause I know I am.”

Another viewer chimed in: “I’m already sick of this hips don’t lie thing,” while another suggested: “Take a shot every time Shakira says “these hips don’t lie”.”

Shakira, however, seemed to take it in stride, evidently used to the jest. Another viewer noted: “She’s had to hear that every time she meets anyone.”

Before long, Maya entered the villa and unveiled a coupling twist that altered the formation of the pairings. All the couples were announced, with hints dropped about an impending bombshell.
