Singer Jessie J has shared an emotional health update following a major surgery after being diagnosed with cancer a couple of months ago.

Jessie, 37, revealed at the beginning of June that she had been diagnosed with “early” breast cancer. She disclosed that she was gearing up for surgery and earlier this week she announced that the procedure had taken place. The musician had a mastectomy last month, in a bid to beat her breast cancer. Since then, she has clarified that her cancer has not “all gone”.

Now, Jessie marked a one month milestone since her procedure and updated fans on her current mental state. She emphasised that “some days are hard” and the she still can’t pick up her son, Sky.

Jessie wrote: “It will be 4 weeks since my breast cancer surgery on Saturday. I am feeling good. Some days are harder than others.

“My movement is good, still very sore but I am getting more like myself everyday. Mentally it’s all catching up with me. So giving myself a little space to feel it all. It’s a for sure.

“Sky has gone away for 2 weeks with his Dad to his Danish fam, but also so I can rest and do physio. (And re organise the whole house with my Mum and my sister as my body) lol. My adhd and ocd still going strong.

“I’m not allowed to pick Sky up for a few months and that has been a difficult adjustment, I just want to hold him like this and spin around.

“But in the bigger picture it’s a small sacrifice to have my health and to still be here.

“The day will come I can lift him up for a cuddle. I can’t wait for that day. That day is what gets me through these days. These days are weird.

“I love being your Mum Sky. I miss my boys.”

The update comes after Jessie opened up about the highs and lows of her post-surgery experience, sharing candid lists of “pros” and “cons” online. In her “pros” list, Jessie expressed gratitude for having her loved ones by her side, including her two year old son Sky, partner Chanan Colman, 41, and her mum Rose Cornish.

Jessie’s “pros” list read: “Cancer has all gone [fingers crossed emoji]. My nipple is where it used to be. I can watch Love Island with no guilt. I am getting to rest and talk to friends more than ever. My Mum lives with us (My [superhero emoji]). Sky just being Sky.”

Listing her struggles, she said: “Not being able to be the Mum I’m used to being and not picking Sky up or the person I’m used to being tbh. I don’t sit down ever. lol.”
