Singer JoJo Siwa opened up to her CBB housemate Danny Beard and revealed she “not a lesbian”, admitting she has only realised it during her time in the CBB house
JoJo Siwa has announced that she’s “not a lesbian” after thinking about her sexuality and identity while in the CBB house.
Dance Moms star JoJo, 21, previously identified as a lesbian and has a non-binary partner, Kath Ebbs, waiting for her outside the house but many people have been raising eyebrows over her close friendship with Love Island star Chris Hughes, 32. The duo have grown close over the series, holding hands and sharing cute moments together that has got fans and fellow housemates talking, wondering if there is more to it than friendship.
Now, JoJo has confessed to housemate and drag star Danny Beard that she no longer identifies as a lesbian. During a private chat in the bathroom, JoJo said: “I feel so queer,” as Danny responded: “I’m queer!”
“I’ve never – I think I’ve always told myself, I’m a lesbian,” explained JoJo. “I think you – I think being here – I’ve realised I am not a lesbian, I’m queer.”
JoJo continued: “And I think that’s really cool, I’m switching letters! I’ve dropped the L and I’ve gone to the Q baby! That’s what I love about sexuality.”
Fans have been confused about JoJo’s relationship with Chris, as the pair have shared steamy hot tubs together complete with foot rubs, back scratches in bed, and even getting in trouble for secretly communicating with each other.
In the CBB livestream earlier this week, they were spotted cuddling in the kitchen, but it wasn’t shown on the main programme. Others in the house have accused the pair of game playing, and questioned their connection.
JoJo’s sexuality came under the spotlight at the start of the series, after veteran actor Mickey Rourke made a series of homophobic remarks to her. He asked whether she preferred boys or girls, and said if she spent long enough in the house he would turn her straight.
Chris was the only housemate to intervene and tell Mickey he couldn’t say things like that. Mickey was later kicked out of the CBB house for his behaviour, following a heated bust-up with Chris.
JoJo originally came out as pansexual back in 2021: “Technically I would say that I am pansexual because that’s how I have always been my whole life is just like, my human is my human,” she told People Magazine, At the time she added she still “doesn’t know what I am” and wanted to “figure it out”.
She later clarified and said she was a lesbian after she “realised she was gay at Disneyworld”. Fans shared their support for JoJo on social media.
“There’s absolutely nothing wrong with her sexuality switching, she needs to be true to herself,” wrote one. They added: “JoJo’s so young and allowed to still be confused about her sexuality.
They added: “It took me a long time to figure out mine, she deserves that same opportunity.” Another viewer added: “Sexuality can be very confusing, especially when you’re young. It’s more than ok to think a label fits you and then to realise a few years later that it actually doesn’t.”
Chris Hughes, JoJo Siwa, Danny Beard, Chesney Hawkes, Donna Preston, and Jack P Shepherd are in the Celebrity Big Brother final. The live final airs on Friday (April 25).
