Kim Kardashian faces criticism for ‘repulsive’ giant blow-up doll in Times Square

Kim Kardashian has been blasted by fans after a giant inflatable blow-up doll of the reality TV star was placed in the middle of Times Square, New York, to promote her new swimwear line

Reality TV queen Kim Kardashian’s latest marketing ploy for her swimwear brand, SKIMS, has caused quite a stir. In an unusual bid to promote her new swimwear collection, a massive inflatable doll was erected in the heart of Times Square, New York.

The blow-up figure, crafted to mimic Kim’s iconic curves, was clad in a blue swimsuit similar to one Kim had recently sported herself. It was perched on a lengthy box with the SKIMS logo prominently showcased.

The doll, said to reflect Kim’s hourglass shape with its busty and slim-waisted dimensions, rapidly drew the gaze of passers-by. Kim herself posted the spectacle on Instagram, exclaiming: “OMG… I cannot believe there is a 60 foot float of me in SKIMS Swim in the middle of Times Square.”

However, not all were amused.

Fans swiftly flocked to social media, mocking the extravagant stunt. Many labelled the doll as “terrifying,” with its face partially obscured by its own arms, reports the Mirror.

Numerous users expressed their disapproval, with one commenting: “Nah there’s children around. This ain’t it.”

Another chimed in: “Such an unrealistic representation of a women’s body.”

A third wrote: “I love skims and this is so awful.”

A fourth irate user penned: “Tacky AF, tone deaf, ego centric. Maybe the worst product campaign launch ever.”

Folks have been blasting the city council for green-lighting a rather questionable spectacle. One bewildered netizen quizzed, “To whomever at the city council who approved this: are you ok?” Another voiced their discomfort: “That’s too much now …..! ! ! ! ! Violating public place.”

A further disgusted onlooker declared: “This is so repulsive.”

Clearly, while the marketing gimmick caught the eye, not all reactions were positive to the odd inflatable doll popping up in Times Square.

Last month, Kim decided against commenting on her former husband Kanye West’s relentless tirades on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter). Opting to turn a blind eye to his antics, the tv personality zeroed in on her business ventures.

Providing a link to her shop, Kardashian Kloset, where fans can snap up pre-loved designer wares, she avoided any mention of Kanye’s erratic online behaviour.

With a sneak peek at the goodies up for grabs, including a racy sheer number by Jean Paul Gaultier that even Kanye’s current wife Bianca Censori might fancy, Kim, 44, dropped a shopping link. She then proceeded to promote skin care products and shades, sidestepping any chat about her ex’s virtual unraveling.

Fresh from stirring trouble at the Grammy Awards, Kanye has set tongues wagging and tempers flaring with his troublesome posts on Twitter, now called X. Unleashing a storm over three days, the four-time dad has spewed anti-Semitic rhetoric, claimed he rules over Bianca, 30, and even branded a top emblazoned with a swastika as an “art piece”.
