Singer Lily Allen has opened up about a ‘midlife crisis’ as she reflected on her night life activities, and claimed she doesn’t mind having night out alone with youngsters
Lily Allen has admitted that is in the midst of a ‘midlife crisis’. The singer said she was recently on a night out in London and stayed out on the dance floor until 3am but started questioning it as she was surrounded by so many young people.
Mum-of-two Lily, 40, who recently split from husband David Harbour and who was seen on a night out with actor James Norton, said that she is having a midlife crisis and cannot go out as much as she used to. Talking to the Miss Me? podcast, she admitted that she has reached an age where she wants to challenge herself with her music and reach a wider audience.
She said: “I don’t wanna sit in a studio for the rest of my life and churn out churn songs that don’t challenge me and do writing camps with people. I wanna feel like I can’t do it. And then do it.
“I went to a Charli XCX gig last year and I think the show was about a week after Brat came out.
“I enjoyed it immensely. I thought the sound was terrible but that was nothing to do with Charli. I thought her performance was epic as it always is and has moved on somewhat from what I saw last year and her confidence.
“I said hello after the show as I’d never met her before in person and that was nice to put a face to a name.”
She added: “Another time I went to a club. I stood in the dance floor and danced.
“There were lots of young people there and I felt old but I’m going to embrace it. And what am I doing? It’s three o’clock in the morning and I didn’t get in until 4am.
“I saw Amelia Dimoldenberg and she was in a real panic. It was very Chicken Shop Date live. I was partying with all the cool cats of east London.
“But I get it, I’m old.
“I’m obviously 40 years old and having a midlife crisis.”
The star rose to fame in the late 2000s with songs like Smile and The Fear.
