Love Island star quitting UK as she’s ‘too embarrassed’ to get normal job here

Love Island star Patsy Field has revealed she is planning a big move to Australia, as she doesn’t want to return to a ‘normal 9-to-5 job’ in the UK after her time in the villa

Patsy Field wants to move to Australia to find a normal job

Love Island’s Patsy Field is preparing for a significant change, and it’s not another reality TV appearance or brand endorsement. The 2023 contestant plans to relocate to Australia, confessing she feels “too embarrassed” to return to a regular 9-to-5 job in the UK.

A year after her short-lived stay in the Love Island villa, Patsy has shared some thoughts on life post-television and the challenges she’s faced readjusting to normal life away from the limelight.

Speaking to The Sun, she expressed her desire to move continents, explaining: “I probably will be looking for a job soon, but I’m planning on moving to Australia. A year post-show… I don’t know if it comes with a little bit of embarrassment of looking for a normal 9-to-5 job. So I feel like if I move to the other side of the world and maybe find one over there, I might feel a bit better about it.”

Despite amassing a substantial social media following after being booted off the ITV dating show just two weeks in, Patsy confessed she doesn’t view herself as a typical influencer, instead humorously dubbing herself as “fun-employed”.

Patsy hopes that restarting her career in Australia will be easier, far removed from the expectations associated with being a former islander, reports the Mirror.

Patsy plans to browse job listings in Australia, considering a return to her previous career in administration. “I’ll just have a look on Indeed in Australia and see what’s going on. I used to work in administration, so I wouldn’t mind doing that again… if they’ll take me back into that industry,” she said.

One of the reasons behind her decision to relocate is the pressure she’s faced trying to maintain a social media presence for her growing fan base. She confessed: “In a normal 9-to-5 job, the only people who know how you’re doing are your boss and some colleagues. But with social media, it’s the whole world. You see how many views, how many likes, and people comment on your performance. That anxiety… I wouldn’t mind being away from that.”

The Kent beauty has a pragmatic approach to her post-Love Island success, never aspiring to become “the next Molly-Mae”. She’s also realistic about the fleeting nature of public attention for reality TV stars.

“All the new Love Islanders come out and then the spotlight moves on. That’s just how it is,” she said matter-of-factly. However, after noticing herself becoming increasingly self-conscious about her disability in Instagram posts, Patsy is ready to return to a more low-key life.

She further commented: “I just think doing that in Australia, far away from all the Love Island expectations, might just feel a little easier.”

Patsy’s insights into her time as a former islander come as Maya Jama refuted recent allegations that producers overly influence what happens in the villa.

During a recent stint on The Chunkz Show, she defended the authenticity of Love Island, stating: “The most they can do is encourage them to have a little chat, but it has to be real because it’s reality.”

Maya revealed that even she is kept in suspense about who gets eliminated until the very last moment, adding: “Literally as I say it, I find out one second before anyone else.”
