Maura Higgins took a swipe at her ex, Pete Wicks, after the on-and-off again pair decided to call it quits just before Valentine’s Day – with her suggesting he may have been disloyal
Maura Higgins revealed that she had split from her situationship with Pete Wicks – before taking a swipe at him on a night out.
The former Love Island star shared a video while on a night out on Saturday (February 16). Maura was enjoying karaoke and sang along to Whitney Houston’s classic tune I Will Always Love You, while another featured her belting out the track Where Do Broken Hearts Go. She was with a group of friends, and appeared to be enjoying her newly-single life.
However, a new video emerged on Valentine’s night where she took a swipe at her ex, Pete, by appearing to brand him as a “cheater.” The pair had been on-and-off again for months, but officially called it quits before the day of love.
Maura addressed their split for the first time as she left Sheesh restaurant in London on Friday night with her friends. Photographers noted that the man she was with was not Pete – and enquired on his whereabouts – to which Maura replied: “Dunno, probably cheating,” in the video obtained by The Sun.
The Irish TV personality was dressed up in a strapless red mini dress, which featured a bustier neckline and a skirt made of appliqué roses. According to reports, Maura and Pete reckon they’re “better off as friends” after a series of tiffs after their stints on Strictly Come Dancing and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! last year.
Maura previously opened up about their potential love life while she was roughing it in the jungle, but they never slapped an official label on it. The pair, who were mates for six years, had been getting to know each other for months.
A source revealed to MailOnline: “Maura and Pete have decided to call off their romance. There have been a few clashes, and it was eventually agreed they were better off as friends.”
Those in the know say it’s been a very on and off affair, which is why they kept it under wraps from the get-go. The split has hit the headlines just weeks after Maura played it coy about her love life on Loose Women.
Maura said: “I don’t want to go on a dating show, I’ve turned down All Stars before and I turned down the Celebs Go Dating. I’ve done it once [ Love Island ] and I spent the whole time in Love Island single!”
Katie Piper then chimed in: “So is that you saying you’re not single?” A flustered Maura retorted: “No, did I say that? I know what you’re doing! No, I never said anything, next question!”
