Maura Higgins’ friend has said that all the kerfuffle over her alleged drunken kiss with Danny Jones at a BRITs after-party has ‘taken its toll’ on the Love Island star
Maura Higgins’ friend has said people need to “calm down” in the wake of the star’s alleged kiss with Danny Jones.
The Love Island beauty has been in the headlines for days after footage on The Sun appeared to show her and married McFly star Danny locking lips in a quick kiss at a BRITS after-party in London, with a source saying: “Danny and Maura seemed to be having a great time. They looked like they had a brief drunken kiss.”
A second video then showed them at the Nobu Hotel in Marylebone later that night, where they were said to be “knocking back wine” at another industry event.
Maura is now thought to have headed off to Los Angeles for work, but a friend has told the Mirror she is “really struggling” amid all the gossip and trolling after her night out.
They said: “Maura is a tough character but the reaction to events of the last week has been utterly relentless, and it’s fair to say it’s taken its toll.
“She has found all of this very difficult to navigate.
“She appreciates she’s in the public eye and there is extra interest around her, but the abuse is off the charts, and people need to calm down.”
Maura and Danny struck up a friendship when they were both contestants on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year, which Danny won.
There is no suggestion that the pair are romantically linked, or that the apparent “kiss” the ITV co-stars shared at the star-studded BRITs after-party was anything more than something between friends.
A body language expert also weighed in on what they saw in the footage, telling the Daily Star that it looked as if there was “nothing sensual between them”.
McFly singer Danny has been married to former Miss England Georgia Horsley since 2014 and they welcomed a son, Cooper, in 2018.
Maura was romantically linked to reality star and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Pete Wicks, but earlier this year it was reported that they had split up and gone their separate ways.
Neither Maura or Danny has addressed their alleged kiss at the bash at 180 House in London.
Daily Star contacted representatives for Danny and Maura for comment following the video of them appearing to kiss.
