TV personality Maura Higgins appeared unbothered by her recent BRITs scandal as she sank shots with Hollywood superstar Margot Robbie, who is a Love Island superfan
Maura Higgins sank shots with Margot Robbie at lunch.
The reality star came under fire a few weeks ago after footage seemed to show her kissing married McFly star Danny Jones at a BRITs afterparty. Danny has apologised to wife Georgia following the scandal, but Maura hasn’t commented on it.
The TV personality, 34, brushed off the saga as she joined Hollywood A-lister Margot Robbie, also 34, for lunch and necked a shot of gin. Barbie star Margot, is a Love Island superfan and invited the villa alum to lunch – and it was an offer Maura simply couldn’t refuse.
Maura took to Instagram with snaps from the boozy lunch, where the pair enjoyed glasses of Margot’s own gin, Papa Salt Coastal gin. She shared a video of them celebrating the launch of the gin in the UK alongside the caption: “Got me on shots at 2pm WHAT A WOMAN!!!!”
Margot was beaming at the table, looking gorgeous in an oversized denim shirt over a black top, and Maura looked glam in a white tweed top teamed with a pair of shades. Before the lunch, Maura had excitedly told followers: “When Margot Robbie invites you to lunch… you go!”
It’s believed Danny’s wife, model Georgia, has moved back into the family home to work things through after the pair spent some time apart. A source allegedly close to the couple told The Sun: “The break has done Georgia a world of good.
“Being out of the house and with her friend Rose Mahon was what she needed to clear her head. Her relationship with Danny was pushed to breaking point, and they are still trying to work out what they want.”
It’s said Danny is determined to fix their marriage. “He has made it clear he will do anything to make it work,” the source daid. “He loves Georgia and wants their marriage to get back on track,”
Danny’s apology read: “Hello everyone, sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation.
“I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately. I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny.”
It’s claimed Maura is “mortified” by the BRITs saga. “It’s been a tough few weeks for Maura,” a source told Closer magazine.
“She’s mortified and would do anything to erase what happened. She was at complete rock bottom when it all came out. At the same time, she feels like some of the backlash that’s come her way is unjustified.
Danny and Georgia met in 2009 at a Miss London event and tied the knot in 2014 in Georgia’s hometown of Old Malton in North Yokrshire. The rocker popped the question during a romantic holiday in Cyprus.
Georgia recently discussed her relationship with Danny on a podcast, saying they didn’t get on at first. She admitted: “He was a bit of a d*ck, and I didn’t really like him.” She said he spent the next year trying to win her over.
“He tried for a year,” she said. “I do like to drop that into conversation every now and again. He wanted me for a year. I said no. I was totally chilled when we went on the date.”
“I didn’t really want to. My mum went, ‘Oh darling, what have you got to lose? Go on, go and enjoy yourself.'” She added: “I said he’s probably going to be a bit of a top sh***er, isn’t he. I just assumed. I treated him mean, kept him keen – without realising. I didn’t know I was doing that.”
