Netflix star Kim Sae-ron found dead at home age 24, as police investigate circumstances

A woman who starred in a popular Netflix show has been found dead.

South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, known for her role in the Netflix show Bloodhounds, has been found dead at her home at the age of 24. The rising star was discovered by a friend who immediately alerted the police on Sunday.

While the authorities are investigating her death, they do not suspect any foul play. Kim Sae-ron began her acting career at the young age of nine and quickly rose to fame with roles in various films and TV shows, including the 2009 film A Brand New Life and the 2010 film The Man From Nowhere.

She continued to secure leading roles in projects such as the 2014 film A Girl At My Door and the 2011 TV drama series Listen To My Heart. In 2016, she landed her first adult lead role in the TV drama Secret Healer and signed with YG Entertainment.

After starring in the 2018 thriller The Villagers and the web drama Love Playlist, she left YG Entertainment and joined Gold Medalist alongside actors Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Yea-ji in 2020. In 2021, Kim Sae-ron played the lead female role in a 12-episode web series called The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim before being cast in the SBS drama Trolley.

Unfortunately, she had to leave the project just months later due to a DUI incident after drunk driving charges were filed against her, reports the Mirror.

At the time, her reps put out a statement asserting: “Kim Sae-ron is deeply reflecting on her apparent mistake. The damage caused by the crash is being compensated as much as possible. I will do my best to take responsibility until the end.”

Later, Kim Sae-ron took to Instagram with a penitent handwritten message stating: “First, I am sorry to inform you of the position after arranging the accident and damage situation.

“Yesterday May 18, 2022 around 8 am in Gangnam, I had an accident that damaged public property. I made a big mistake while drinking. I caused damage to so many people, including merchants, citizens, and those who restored it. I should have acted more carefully and responsibly, but I couldn’t.

“I sincerely apologize. We are working out the damage caused by the accident together with the company. I will do my best to communicate and actively resolve the matter until the end. I am very sorry to my fellow actors and staff as well as the production team for disrupting the production of the work that was being filmed and prepared.”

She concluded: “Once again, we deeply apologise and apologise for causing concern. There is no excuse for this unfortunate incident. I am disappointed and very ashamed of the mistakes I have made.”
