Lloyds bank has received more than 1,000 claims since tickets went on sale for the gigs this summer, with Oasis fans believed to have been scammed out of more than £2million
Oasis fans have been scammed to the tune of £2million since the mad dash for tour tickets started last summer.
Banks have been inundated with fraud claims from customers tricked by scam artists. One person was swindled out of £1,700 suggesting folk are willing to pay well over the odds to see the rock gods, who are touring for the first time since splitting in 2009.
Lloyds bank has received more than 1,000 claims since tickets went on sale for the gigs this summer. Based on its share of banking customers, it predicts that across the UK there are likely to have been at least 5,000 victims.
Which? consumer expert, Lisa Webb, said: “Scammers are always looking for new ways to part people from theirhard-earned cash.
“Unfortunately, Oasis tickets being in such high demand has created a perfect storm for criminals.”
Cons often happen in two waves – the first when tickets are released for sale, and again as the event date approaches.
Liz Ziegler, Lloyds fraud prevention boss, said: “The Oasis tour is the latest target for ticket scammers, with millions of pounds of fans’ money stolen before the gigs even kick off.
“The fact that so many cases start with fake listings on social media underscores the importance of these companies taking stronger action to tackle scams.”
The two feisty brothers, who have had a strained relationship over the years, now appear to be getting along well after Liam revealed he spent time with Noel and his sons over the bank holiday weekend.
Rock star Liam, 52, posed on X: “So we had a biblical Easter Sunday. Noel, Donavan and Sonny popped over to ours for a cup of tea.
“It was absolutely incredible to meet the young guys. I obviously blew their minds cos I’m cool as f***, you heard it here first”.
One fan replied: “This brings me so much joy.” Another added: “I can sleep easily now.”
Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher gave his verdict on Bring Me The Horizon’s heavy cover of Oasis song Wonderwall.
Liam and brother Noel Gallagher are gearing up to head out on tour this year, after Oasis announced their long-awaited reunion tour last year. While fans were ecstatic about the reunion, the ticketing issues caused mayhem up and down the country.
But now that the dust has settled, LG is back in top spirits. He has revealed what he thinks of a much heavier version of his own song.
Sheffield band Bring Me The Horizon released their own version of the song for Spotify Singles this week. And while he’s been known for some catty comebacks on social media, Liam had nothing but praise. Read the full story here.
