One of Them Days star Maude Apatow’s life off-screen – famous parents and role in new SZA film

Maude Apatow is back on the silver screen in One of Them Days

Maude Apatow is dazzling audiences in the new rib-tickling flick One of Them Days, sharing the spotlight with Nickelodeon royalty Keke Palmer and chart-topper SZA. The film set in Los Angeles follows roomies Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) on a mad dash to scrape together the rent and dodge eviction.

Apatow shines in her supporting act as Bethany, the fresh face in town shaking things up for the lead duo. The comedy hit the US screens this January and has been lapped up by critics and film buffs alike, flaunting a swanky 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics are gushing that “One of Them Days makes the buddy-comedy genre feel like magic once again.”

But who’s the starlet behind Bethany?

Born Maude Annabelle Apatow back in December 1997, the 27 year old thespian already boasts an impressive reel dating back to 2007.

Scoring her first gig at just 10 in the rom-com Knocked Up, she shared the frame with heavy-hitters Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl. She nabbed another role in Funny People in 2009, before gracing This is 40 in 2012, reports the Mirror.

In her burgeoning career, Apatow had the chance to work up-close with her celeb parents who were leading the charge or co-starring.

She’s the eldest daughter of actress Leslie Mann and Hollywood bigwig Judd Apatow. Her initial trio of movies were helmed by her father, with her mum also starring.

As she shot to fame in HBO’s hit series Euphoria, the American actress quickly found herself stamped as a ‘nepo baby’ by some viewers. This term is slung at celeb offspring who appear to skip the queue into fiercely competitive scenes like the movie biz.

In 2022, Apatow opened up about her views on the label in a frank chat with Net-A-Porter. She admitted that initially, the tag struck a chord.

“At first I was sad,” she owned up, then explained: “I try not to let it get to me because I obviously understand that I’m in such a lucky position.

“A lot of people [in a similar position] have proven themselves over the years, so I’ve got to keep going and make good work. It’s so early in my career, I don’t have much to show yet, but hopefully one day I’ll be really proud of the stuff I’ve done by myself.”

Euphoria role

In terms of her gig on Euphoria, even if she says she “doesn’t have much to show yet”, the rising talent plays a beloved role. In the risqué drama, Apatow shines as Lexi Howard, the sane BFF to Zendaya’s wild child Rue.

While she didn’t snag the spotlight in season one, her character became key in the second chapter. The latest instalment had fans talking as Lexi buddied up with drug peddler Fezco, played by Angus Cloud until his sad passing in 2023.

The audience latched onto this odd pair and were buzzing for what could turn into a romantic plot in the episodes ahead. Regrettably, significant delays hindered the series from shooting its upcoming season before the actor’s death.

Apatow is slated to make a comeback in Euphoria, which has recently started filming its third season, over three years since its previous instalment was broadcast.
