Disgraced rapper P Diddy has been granted a rare positive during his upcoming trial after a judge has ruled that he will be able to refrain from wearing prison attire at court
P Diddy’s trial is coming up and he has been awarded a rare win by a judge.
The disgraced rapper has been allowed to dress in his own clothes for the sex trafficking trial after a judge ruled he could refrain from wearing prison attire.
The musician is allowed ditch the prison issue, top and trousers next week for when a jury selection begins. The judge has set some ground rules though as he is only permitted to wear up to five pairs of trousers, shirts and socks and only two different pairs of shoes – with no laces.
There has not been a restriction placed on jewellery however so he will be bale to bling up if he so wishes. Diddy, 55, whose real name is Sean Combs, has vehemently denied sex trafficking and other charges against him.
In his ruling, judge Arun Subramanian said: “The defendant Sean Combs, Inmate # 37452-054, will be permitted to receive non-prison clothing at the MDC to wear for his trial scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
“He is permitted to have up to five button down shirts, up to five pairs of pants, up to five sweaters, up to five pairs of socks, and up to two pairs of shoes without laces to wear to court.”
Jury selection is due to begin on May 5th and opening statements on May 12th at the federal court in New York.
Style is incredibly important to the rapper and before his fall from grace, the mogul was viewed high up in the fashion world, after having his own clothing line.
He previously commented on his style and said: “Coming from Harlem, your style is everything; you can’t compromise on your style. So, I didn’t compromise; I was going to be straight to the point. They would feel the confidence, and they would start shooting because I was in a light phase. I was shining real bright, my energy, and just the overall frequency and vibration.”
