Real Housewives star Teddi Mellencamp announced earlier this month that she’d been diagnosed with multiple brain tumours and was having emergency surgery to remove them
TV star Teddi Mellencamp is doing better after surgery to remove her brain tumours.
The 43-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star had emergency surgery to remove two brain tumours earlier this month. The op was successful, her estranged husband confirmed, but she’s been in “so much pain”.
She was diagnosed with “multiple” tumours on her brain by doctors after she went to hospital in “unbearable” pain – they believe the tumours have been growing for at at least six months. Teddi had been suffering “severe” headaches for weeks before she checked into hospital in “unbearable” pain.
However, it seems things are looking up for the star as her pals Terry and Heather Dubrow said things were looking “positive” for the Beverly Hills beauty. The married pair are known for appearing on The Real Housewives of Orange County.
Heather told TMZ: “Well, obviously any information about Teddi will be given out by her family but what we do know is that, we heard a little bit of good news today, which we’re really happy about and we’re sending all of our good wishes and thoughts to Teddi and her family”.
Terry added: “What we do know is she’s extremely brave. And we heard that she’s turned the corner a bit. So it’s very… I think very positive right now. Things are definitely looking up, we understand.”
In her initial update with fans, posted on Instagram, Teddi wrote: “For the last several weeks I’ve been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches. Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization.
“After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believed have been growing for at least 6 months. Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today – the remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date.
She thanked everybody for their support, adding: “I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses, and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health. Thank you everybody who has reached out, and to everyone who has supported me along this journey.”
Mellencamp posted snaps from her hospital bed before the surgery – she could be seen wearing a hospital robe with devices placed on her forehead. “Counting down the minutes until my babies get here,” she wrote.
“As my dad said this am, god only gives hard stuff to those of us who can handle it. It’s a hard day but I have faith and amazing surgeons and know everything will be ok.”
In October 2022, she was diagnosed with skin cancer – stage II melanoma – which was removed. She has had around 20 surgeries to fight the cancer and was left with a large zig-zag scar across her back and shoulder.
