Rochelle Humes once revealed that she and husband Marvin got together after he slipped her phone out of her bag so he could use it to ring herself and get her number
Rochelle Humes once joked that when she first met her husband Marvin he acted in a “creepy, restraining order” way.
The TV beauty and JLS star Marvin – who celebrates his 40th birthday today (March 18) – have now been happily married for 13 years, have three young children together and are major players in the showbiz world. But it seems things were a little different when they first met.
Rochelle once shared that the pair met in the early noughties, when she was around 16. They crossed paths again in 2010, two years before they tied the knot, at an event in Ireland.
The star had yet to find TV fame on shows such as This Morning, and at the time was in The Saturdays. Marvin’s star was on the rise in JLS.
Rochelle previously explained on The Jonathan Ross Show: “We were at a club, and they had put all the bands together.”
She went on: “I went to the toilet and my bag was on the chair. He took my phone out of my bag, called himself from my phone and got my number.
“It’s weird,” she laughed. “He’s got the last laugh because I married him, but it’s weird. In a creepy, restraining order way.”
Rochelle shared that when the pair started dating it was “in secret”.
She explained that The Saturdays had been warned about the impact dating a boy band star could have on their career so they kept things on the down low to start with.
She said: “I remember having this meeting with our A&R manager, and I remember him saying to us, ‘It’s going really well, it’s quite hard for girl bands because girls have to like you and not feel intimidated… The only thing you can do to mess this up is date someone from a boy band. If any of you date JLS then you’re screwed’.”
Rochelle and Marvin got married in 2012 and the following year they welcomed daughter Alaia-Mai. Another daughter, Valentina, followed in 2017. And in 2020 the couple had son Blake.
To mark their 10-year anniversary in 2022, Rochelle and Marvin decided to renew their vows. They held the ceremony in Italy’s Lake Como, with Rochelle clad in white lace.
The stars later shared snaps on Instagram showing them holding hands with their rings on. Marvin wrote: “Yes we did it all again!!! Ten down forever to go.”
He told Hello!: “Rochelle looked so incredible, she took my breath away all over again. To be stood there with my beautiful wife, my girls and my boy – my world – was a moment I’ll never forget.”
