A source has claimed that Ruth Langsford is still wearing her wedding ring and doesn’t want to date anyone new until her divorce from Eamonn Holmes is finalised
A year on from her break up with Eamonn Holmes, Ruth Langsford has reportedly given pals a relationship update.
The ITV host has allegedly told pals she won’t venture back into the dating scene until her divorce from Eamonn is finalised, according to a source who spoke to New. The couple were hitched for 14 years before their surprising split last year.
The insider revealed that despite 65-year-old Eamonn moving on with Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior, Loose Women panelist Ruth isn’t ready for a new romance and “just wants out” of her marriage.
“She’s still wearing her wedding ring because she’s coming to terms with a long relationship ending, and realising Eamonn maybe wasn’t the person she thought he was,” the source claimed. “And she’s also coming to terms with life being very, very different for her going forward.
“Ruth has been having fun going out with her girlfriends, and enjoying a little flirt, but that’s it. She really needs the Eamonn chapter to be fully closed before she can move on romantically, she needs her freedom.
“She really isn’t dating, it’s the last thing she wants to do,” the source continued. “She just wants to get the divorce over and done with. Her friends would love to see her happy with someone else, but she needs to get the divorce over with first before she can properly move on.”, reports the Mirror.
The former golden couple of This Morning, parents to 22-year-old Jack, issued a rather terse statement last May stating: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing,” but didn’t delve into the reasons behind the decision.
However, a source recently alleged that Ruth, 65, was left “totally horrified” upon discovering Eamonn had been “sharing intimate chats with another woman” while they were still wedded and cohabiting in their London residence.
The insider also revealed to The Sun On Sunday that Ruth stumbled upon damning messages on her husband’s personal laptop. These messages were reportedly “the straw that broke the camel’s back”, leading to the split shortly after.
Last September saw Eamonn embarking on a Mediterranean cruise with relationship counsellor Katie, before making a public appearance together at a major awards event two months later, which some interpreted as a subtle introduction of their relationship.
On the other hand, Ruth hasn’t been linked romantically with anyone post-split. Our source suggests it’s because she desires a complete fresh start away from Eamonn.
“They’re both hoping the divorce goes smoothly and quickly, but they’ve been together a long time so there’s a lot of finances to work out,” they informed us. “Ruth just wants a fair split and for it to be done with. She just wants out.”
Ruth, who’s undergone a bit of a transformation post her marriage split, clapped back at a nosy fan on her socials last year who questioned why she was still sporting her wedding band.
After sharing a clip of herself rustling up a green smoothie, one curious follower commented, “Why has she still got her wedding rings on?” Ruth didn’t miss a beat and retorted, “Because I’m still married.”
The duo, famed for co-hosting This Morning on Fridays for 14 years until their departure in 2020, kicked off their romance back in 1997. By then, Eamonn had parted ways with his first wife Gabrielle, with whom he shares three kids.
Their own lad Jack arrived in 2002, and the pair tied the knot in June 2010, shortly after Eamonn popped the question. With such a shared history, it’s hardly shocking that Ruth recently confessed she’s still grappling with the end of their union.
“I’m not delighted my marriage is over but I’ve accepted that my marriage is over, so I am trying to now embrace the fact that I’m single and can make choices that are just about me,” she spilled to Woman and Home.
