Ruth Langsford pulls out of TV job hours before live show amid health issue

Ruth Langsford has announced that she’s had to cancel a scheduled TV appearance as a result of ill health, just hours before she was set to go live on the channel

Ruth Langsford has been forced to pull out of a TV commitment.

The 65-year-old was all set to appear on her QVC programme, Ruth Langsford Fashion, which airs weekly on the shopping network. The show dishes out “style advice and inspiration” courtesy of the ex-This Morning presenter.

However, she had to pull out tonight [1 May] and took to her Instagram Story to post a snap of herself with mate Melissa Hardy. The Loose Women star revealed that stylist Melissa will be filling her shoes for the show.

Ruth wrote: “I’ve got a horrible tummy bug so unfortunately can’t do my show [on QVC] tonight! Thankfully the wonderful [Melissa] is stepping in for me so I hope you can join her…some lovely new pieces launching,” reports the Mirror.

Melissa posted the update onto her own feed and sent a get-well message to Ruth in her own post today: “Feel better soon Ruth.”

In a follow-up post, she revealed that she’ll be teaming up with presenter Ophelia Dennis on Ruth Langsford Fashion tonight. She said: “Stepping in for the lovely [Ruth] at 7 and 8pm with [Ophelia] and lots of new pieces.”

Ruth has been a staple at QVC for over five years. She was crowned an ambassador for the brand in 2017 and now boasts her own clothing line, Ruth Langsford Fashion, and has remained a regular face on the shopping channel.

She addressed her bond with the brand during a Q&A session with her followers back in 2019. Ruth confessed at the time that she felt “privileged” to have been asked to join forces with QVC at the start of their partnership.

A fan quizzed her on how she landed the gig with the shopping channel, to which she responded: “I was very privileged that [QVC] invited me to develop my own clothing range with them so of course I said yes!”

Ruth is known for plugging her work on QVC and some of its products on her account. She recently shared that she’d taken part in a “fun photoshoot” for the show Today’s Special Value.

She posted: “Fun photo shoot yesterday for my next [QVC] TSV (Today’s Special Value). We were working hard but we always have a laugh too!”
