Ruth Langsford has been spotted without her wedding ring for the first time in over a year, after the Loose Women star announced she was splitting from Eamonn Holmes
Ruth Langsford has reached a point of “no turning back” after being photographed without her wedding ring for the first time in over a year following her separation from Eamonn Holmes.
The Loose Women presenter revealed her surprising split from her husband of 14 years last May, with an insider telling OK! that removing the ring after such a lengthy period represents a major step forward for Ruth. A source close to the television personality reveals: “Removing that ring might have been a shock to fans, after she’s worn it for so long. But it was the final bit of closure. It was a message to Eamonn and symbolic that Ruth’s marriage and that chapter of her life is over.
“She’s closing the door on her past for good. Taking it off is Ruth saying, ‘I’ve moved on, it’s all behind me.’ She’s just desperate to get this divorce out of the way, now. There’s no turning back.”
The cooking enthusiast, who shares 23 year old son Jack with her Belfast-born former partner, also 65, recently uploaded an Instagram clip showing herself cheerfully preparing one of her “favourite summer dishes” – described as a “colourful, no-cook salad”. Whilst Ruth – currently embroiled in divorce proceedings with the GB News host – has previously showcased her kitchen skills across social media, this marks the first occasion she’s done so having discreetly discarded her wedding band, reports the Mirror.
This followed sightings of a frail-looking Eamonn, who continues to struggle with severe health problems, using a walking frame during a glamorous London evening out with his girlfriend Katie Alexander, 43, by his side.
The couple were attending a lavish celebration for fellow GB News presenter Nana Akua, who was marking her engagement to fiancé Stephen Gillen at the upmarket Blue Marlin Club in London.
As for Ruth, she has largely kept a dignified silence regarding her separation from Eamonn.
However, removing her wedding ring might be the clearest indication yet that she’s moved on from her estranged husband, alongside the lively evenings she’s been enjoying with celebrity friends including Rylan Clark and Lizzie Cundy, as shared across social media.
Ruth, who has undergone quite a transformation in recent months, did acknowledge the separation on Instagram last September when a follower questioned a video she’d posted demonstrating how to prepare a nutritious beverage.
“Why has she still got her wedding rings on?” the fan enquired, prompting Ruth to respond sharply: “Because I’m still married.”
She then included two crying with laughter emojis to ensure the follower understood she was maintaining her wit despite the pointed inquiry.
Meanwhile, the former pair’s divorce proceedings continue to drag on. Ruth had previously enlisted a leading divorce solicitor, and it’s understood she has been battling to secure their £3.6 million six-bedroom Surrey mansion.
Earlier in May, counsellor Katie faced her own ‘ring-gate’ drama when she took to social media to quash speculation that she and Eamonn were engaged, after fans spotted what appeared to be an engagement ring on her finger in a photo with the former This Morning presenter.
Katie quickly addressed any gossip, declaring: “Before anyone jumps to the #ringgate bandwagon, the camera is reversed so… RightHandRingFinger!”.
Meanwhile, regardless of whether Eamonn progresses things with Katie, our insider reveals that Ruth is concentrating on what lies ahead. “As all her friends are saying, Ruth has never looked or felt better. She’s rested, she’s looking great, she’s enjoying her Pilates sessions and life is good.”
The trim-looking presenter – who also runs her own thriving fashion range on shopping channel QVC – isn’t just maintaining a nutritious diet but embracing regular fitness sessions, as she offered followers a glimpse into her exercise regime recently, displaying a workout which she said was already strengthening her body.
“Weekend Pilates with @siobhanklloyd,” Ruth shared on Instagram. “This move is called Baby Swan apparently – it was hard so I’m not looking forward to progressing to grown-up swan! ! Really loving mixing up mat sessions and Reformer… my core is already feeling stronger.”
The source continues, “Ruth is literally living her best life. She knows Eamonn is happy with Katie and she’s really not bothered about what his future plans are. “She’s putting everything into looking after herself and her career right now, which she loves.
The only thing holding her back is the divorce – it’s going on way too long and she just wants it to be over so she can get on with her life.”
