Severance Miss Huang’s link to Gemma ‘exposed’ – and she’s not her daughter

Severance fans have been baffled since the moment Miss Huang was introduced to the severed floor and many think she’s Gemma’s child, but a crazy new theory blows all that out of the water

A wild Severance theory explains Miss Huang’s connection to Gemma Scout.

In series two, fans of the Apple TV show were introduced to the mysterious Miss Huang. Working under Mr Milchick’s guidance, it is revealed that the presumed-teenager-turned-intern is working under Lumon’s Wintertide programme.

Many speculated that the young girl is Mark and Gemma Scout’s daughter, although this was dismissed for a number of reasons – namely as Gemma had been “dead” for only two years before the events of season one took place. So, unless Lumon has created some kind of drug or machine that speeds up the ageing process and has yet to be hinted at, this theory has understandably been snubbed by viewers (for now).

However, some have noticed a link that may hint toward something far more sinister. It is revealed that Miss Huang previously had a job as a crossing guard.

Miss Huang was introduced in series two

Mark’s wife Gemma, who is revealed as Miss Casey, died in a car accident between two and three years before Miss Huang joined Lumon.

Fans have wondered whether Miss Huang was working as a crossing guard on the night Gemma was killed – some have even suggested that she accidentally hit Miss Huang, which caused her car to spin out of control leading to her death.

Viewers have speculated that both their bodies were collected by Lumon and their brains severed – either before or after they died.

Gemma, Mark Scout’s wife, is revealed as Miss Casey at the end of the first season

It is a common theory shared by Severance fans that Lumon is working on something connected with saving a human consciousness before death. It would also explain why Miss Huang is so much younger than all the other characters.

Throughout series two, a running joke about Huang’s age raised questions about why she was employed by the company. Toward the end of the season, Cobel revealed that she used to work for Lumon as a child at eight years old, so Miss Huang could be another child labour victim.

Or, it is possible Miss Huang is a severance experiment that doesn’t get the chance to grow any older. If she is severed and her outie is dead, that would mean that she only exists to serve Lumon making her the ultimate loyal employee.

Fans are convinced that Miss Huang is Gemma’s clone or that the girl was involved in her death

Over on Reddit, fans of the show have gathered to share their thoughts on what they think Miss Huang is doing for Lumon. Someone wrote: “I think she’s fully severed like Gemma and remains on site 24/7. Maybe she’s a child who died and was reanimated by Lumon.”

Another fan theorised: “She’s the kid of absolutely no one. She was made in a lab,” while another said: “I believe she was the first child to be severed. In [series one] Mark did [talk to] the group of protestors and say how Lumon were almost going to begin severing kids.”

A number of comments speculated that she “is a clone of Gemma,” and one person said that Lumon’s clones may “start of young and grow like the goats.”

“I think she might be Gemma somehow. It might seem crazy but think about it. Since Gemma “retired” we are seeing Miss Huang. Some kind of cloning or I don’t know some weird thing that company does might be at play,” read another wild theory.
