Nelson Mandela had endured 27 years in prison by the time he met the Spice Girls in 1997. Music mogul Nicki Chapman said called it one of the “greatest moments of my life”
Geri Halliwell once gave life advice to Nelson Mandela, it has been revealed.
The Spice Girl told the legendary politician and activist that “you’re only as old as the woman you feel”.
Music mogul Nicki Chapman, who was there when Ginger Spice delivered the words of wisdom, that it was the most “surreal” moment of her life.
Chapman explained the interaction was prompted by Nelson telling the iconic 90s girl band Spice Girls he was an “old man” when they toured South Africa and performed to him.
Speaking to Candis magazine, the 58-year-old said: “He told the crowd: ‘This is one of the greatest moments of my life’.
“When he said he was an old man now, Geri piped up with: ‘You’re only as old as the woman you feel and I’m 25, Nelson’.
“I’ve had a few surreal moments in my life but I think that probably tops the lot.”
Mandela had endured 27 years in prison, including many in solitary confinement, by the time he met the Spice Girls in 1997.
Chapman began her career as a promotions assistant at the MCA record label before working her way up to head of promotions and launching some the UK’s most well-known bands, including Take That.
It follows reports that Union Jack clothing is cool again as young people embrace outfits inspired by the famous dress that Geri wore to the 1997 Brit Awards.
The patriotic look is being adopted by a new generation of fashion fans who are displaying it on tights, hats, T-shirts and even underwear.
High end tailor Gresham Blake said its Union Jacket have been flying off the shelves.
The firm said: “Not sure why a sudden surge but happy for the business.
“Flags are all hand sewn in the UK and jackets are made in our London workshop.”
