EXCLUSIVE: A television legend has returned to screens and given the lowdown on some of his favourite ever celebs to work with – with David Attenborough being listed as one of them
As David Attenborough celebrates his 99th birthday – a TV legend has shared a rather comical encounter with him.
The animal loving TV star has been named as one of PG Tips Monkey’s favourite celebrities to work with, as the funky monkey returns to screens for the tea brand’s latest campaign.
After starring as the face of the brand for over 20 years, he’s now back on screen and this time he’s married and starring in his own reality show ‘At Home with Monkey’.
Monkey has now sat down with Daily Star (as voiced by by comedian Ivo Graham) to discuss his future plans. When asked if we would ever want any celebrity guests to join him on his TV show – he revealed David would be the number one option, before sharing that the presenter had been keeping a close up on him.
Talking to us, Monkey said: “Well, Attenborough is the big one, obviously. Yeah, I know he’s got eyes on me. I want to support him with his crew hiding in the bushes of my garden.
“They were saying just, ‘Just act normal, pretend we’re not here’. I said, ‘How can I pretend you’re not here? You’re David Attenborough’. So you know, if he was prepared to give me a bit of advanced warning. It would be an absolute pleasure to collab with Big D.”
Viewers can Catch Mr and Mrs M (Emily Atack) living life ‘just one tea at a time’, with the launch of the new reality TV-inspired ad, At Home with Monkey, which follows his new life.
Monkey commented: “That’s right, I’m back! Spilling the tea on life with Alice… Mrs M, if we’re being fancy. That’s right, I’ve tied the knot! And we’ve flung open the doors (and the biscuit tin) to let you all in.
“Like all good reality shows, there are highs, lows, laughs, tears … and enough tea to rehydrate a small nation. You’ll see us muddling through it all. Marriage, mayhem, and meltdowns (did I mention the kids?)
“Because married life’s a bit like a teabag, you don’t know how strong it is until it’s in hot water. But no matter what’s brewing, there’s always a cup of PG to help us pause, reset, and crack on with whatever’s next.”
Emily Atack also added: “It’s not often you get the opportunity to work with a national treasure. Filming alongside the knitted and quick-witted Monkey has been such a joy – I absolutely loved stepping into the role of Mrs. M, and living life one tea at a time as Monkey’s other half. It is both hilarious and heartwarming in equal measure!
“Alice definitely keeps Monkey on his toes, and I think many couples will relate to their dynamic. I can’t wait to spill the tea on what this duo have been up to!”
