Jason Isaacs has hinted that there was a lot going on behind the scenes as the latest series of The White Lotus was filmed in Thailand – but refused to spill the details
The White Lotus star Jason Isaacs has admitted some friendships were “lost” amid filming.
The actor, 61, plays businessman Timothy Ratliff in the third series of the show about guests at the luxurious White Lotus resort chain. The latest series has been full of drama, with drunken kisses and a mystery around a body in the water.
There was even a full-frontal scene starring the Harry Potter icon himself. And it seems there may have been a bit of drama off set too.
Opening up to Vulture, Jason compared it to William Golding’s novel Lord of The Flies, where a group of schoolboys stranded on an island turn savage. Saying that it had been an “intense pressure cooker” as they spent months filming in Thailand, he hinted that there could have been some tension.

Asked what the cast dynamic was during filming, he confessed: “It was like a cross between summer camp and Lord of The Flies but in a gilded cage. It wasn’t a holiday.”
He went on: “Some people got very close, there were friendships that were made and friendships that were lost. All the things you would imagine with a group of people unanchored from their home lives on the other side of the world, in the intense pressure cooker of the working environment with eye-melting heat and insects and late nights.”
The actor teased that there was “an off-screen White Lotus as well, with fewer deaths but just as much drama”.
However, Jason refused to spill the specifics about what may have gone on. Laughing, he said he would “absolutely not” share.
“I became very close to some people and less close to others, but we still all had that experience together and there’s a certain level of discretion required,” he explained.
The third series of the hit show was shot in Bangkok and Ko Samui and as well as Jason, the cast includes Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Aimee Lou Wood among others.
The White Lotus started in 2021 and a second series followed in 2022. The show’s latest run started in February, and sees Jason as dysfunctional dad-of-three Tim.
He is on holiday with his wife, played by Parker, their daughter Piper (played by Sarah Catherine Hook) and their sons Saxon (Patrick) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola), who have been getting up to all sorts of antics on their idyllic retreat.
