Eddie Large's last social media post exposed as he dines with football icon

Comedian Eddie Large died today at the age of 78 from coronavirus in hospital.

The legendary funnyman was treated for heart failure, his family said.

Eddie shot to fame as “Large” in comedy duo “Little and Large,” alongside pal Syd Little. The partnership spanned five decades after originally being formed in 1971.

In recent years, Eddie had stayed fairly out of the spotlight, but he had been keeping his fans up to date on his Twitter page.

Eddie’s Twitter page has 1,958 followers and is blue tick verified. The bio reads: “Been supporting MCFC for 67 years during which time I have had Peritonitus, gout, stroke, heart attack and a heart transplant. Coincidence? and Pancreatitis [sic].”

In Eddie’s last Twitter post that he uploaded, the football-obsessed star shared a snap of himself and footballing legend Kevin Keegan.

Writing alongside the smiley snap of the pair dining out at a restaurant, Eddie wrote: “I was invited out to dinner which meant missing Real v City but the person in the photo told me not to worry and he was right.”

Eddie’s photo, which was shared on February 26, was retweeted 40 times, and received 659 likes.

The last post Eddie retweeted was a Guardian newspaper sporting column on Manchester City.

His son Ryan McGinnis wrote on Facebook today: ‘It is with great sadness that mum and I need to announce that my dad, Edward Mcginnis, passed away in the early hours of this morning.

“Dad had fought bravely for so long. Due to this horrible disease we had been unable to visit him at the hospital but all of the family and close friends spoke to him every day.

“We will miss him terribly and we are so proud of everything he achieved in his career with Syd and know that he was much loved by the millions that watched them each week. RIP Dad. We love you and miss you from all the family.”
