Loose Women host Andrea McLean recently opened up about going to marriage counselling with her husband Nick Feeney after two years of marriage.
Andrea, 50, has since spoken about how surprised she was that her revelation was perceived to be negative, as she talked about how much it helped her relationship.
Speaking about the episode, Andrea revealed she had no regrets about making the admission, and insisted she and Nick are happier than ever.
She also told ITV viewers that she suffered a breakdown last year, which was what prompted her and Nick to go to counselling.
She told the Express: “I didn’t mind talking about it at all, what really annoyed me about that is it was taken out of context.
“We did it because I was going through a tough time, obviously I’ve now said on air I was having a breakdown.
“It was so he could know how to help me, obviously I didn’t want to talk about that at the time.
“What I was saying was, in my experience marriage counselling is very helpful.

“I meant it in that context, the way it was reported was we were clearly having marriage difficulties.
“We weren’t having difficulties at all, he was being supportive of me.”
She added: “In my opinion everyone should go to marriage counselling, even if your relationship is super healthy because you learn ways to communicate better.”
Andrea opened up about her breakdown on Loose Women earlier this month, revealing it was sparked by her time on Celeb SAS: Who Dares Wins.
She said: “I’ve been writing it for about a year and actually it’s so apt for now. But in a nutshell, s*** happens and how do you get over it? That’s what it’s about.
“We all go through stuff and we will go through stuff at many different levels and just because our thing is different to someone else’s thing doesn’t make it any less difficult or any less challenging – but there’s always something you can do to overcome it.”
Loose Women continues tomorrow at 12.30pm on ITV.
