RuPaul’s Drag Race UK finalist Baga Chipz has confessed she’s “distraught” at the prospect of Coronation Street coming off air, after filming was stopped due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Since filming was stopped earlier this year, episodes have cut back to three per week instead of the usual six – however it’s not yet clear what will happen when the ready-filmed episodes inevitably run out.
Drag queen Baga, who is a vocal soap super fan, exclusively told Daily Star Online about her love for Coronation Street and how ITV series should continue.
The performer told us: “I’m absolutely in bits, I’m distraught. When I heard the news, I was like, ‘F***.’ I can probably do without EastEnders, I watch it, but when they said it’s Corrie…

“Even when I was on the road, I’d come back from the gig, in my hotel room and I’d watch Corrie on catch-up on my phone.
“Oh God, it f***ing winded me when they told me that [filming had ended], I was absolutely winded.”
Now really isn’t a good time for the soap to come off air either, with the Yasmeen (Shelley King) and Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) drama really heating up.
This week, Yasmeen’s bail was denied and she was locked up to await her trial for the attempted murder of her abusive husband Geoff.
But Baga – real name Leo Loren – has a great way that the ITV crew can keep producing episodes of her beloved Coronation Street.
She said: “I just don’t know how they’re going to do it, especially with that big storyline with Yasmeen, she’s in prison.
“I don’t know, they could probably film from two metres away, just sitting in a cell cracking up.
“They could do that – it’s one actress and a camera man.”

Referencing social distancing guidelines, Baga added: “If people can stand in a queue, literally next to each other, to buy a bloody garden patio, I’m sure they can film a few episodes of Corrie.
“They could have someone sitting in the café, Roy could be behind the counter, nowhere near each other.”
Making her love for the soap clear, Baga said: “I did have a tear in my eye when they said about Corrie.
“It’s my favourite thing. Coronation Street, to me, is better than chocolate, booze, sex and fags, all in one.”
Luckily, the reality star is keeping her thirst quenched with old episodes on ITV3 and Brit Box, but admits she gets confused jumping between the throwback and modern storylines.
Soap re-runs aren’t the only thing keeping Baga busy during the lockdown though, as she’s teamed up with Missguided for a fun competition.
The prize is a chance to have Baga join in on your Zoom quiz with your and your socially distancing pals.
