Niall Horan slams Trump for branding protesters 'thugs' after George Floyd death

Niall Horan has took to his official Twitter account to lash out at Donald Trump after he called protestors ‘thugs’ in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death.

Social media users fumed as the US President shared a post branding protestors as ‘thugs’ while sending a firm warning that they would be shot if they looted.

The outraged One Direction singer, who felt strongly on the matter, struck back questioning if Trump was “listening to himself”.

Fuming about the handling of situation and Donald Trump’s Twitter reaction, he took to his platform to vent his frustrations.

He angrily responded: “THUGS? These people are protesting against the fact that one of YOUR animalistic white policemen kneeled on George’s windpipe and forced him to stop breathing and killed him?

“THUGS???? Are you listening to yourself?”

The death of George Floyd has sparked intonational controversy after he became yet another black person to have lost his life while under police custody.

In the tragic video that went viral, George can be heard whimpering and begging a police officer to stop kneeling on him as he struggled for breath.

Witnesses also pleaded with the authorities to stop what they were doing as they filmed the horrendous ordeal that eventually showed George becoming limp and lifeless, before he was whisked away on a stretcher.

Following his death, public outrage and sadness struck the globe, with many locals taking to the streets of Minneapolis to protest their fury.

It wasn’t long before the peaceful protests turned sour, resulting in looting, arson and vandalism as the Minneapolis police station was set ablaze.

Wanting to send a firm message, Trump tweeted: “These THUGS are dishonouring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen.

“Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way.

“Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

As the tweet sparked rage from every corner of the globe, even Twitter officials had to intervene issuing the US President with a warning.

The messaged read: “This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence.

“However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”
