Jeremy Clarkson calls out coughing audience member in tense Millionaire moment

Jeremy Clarkson was quick to call out a coughing audience member during tonight’s episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, which was a repeat from January 2019.

First up in the hot seat was Sandra Howe, who was continuing on from the previous episode, though starting at the beginning as she the dreaded buzzer cut her off before she could win any money.

In the end, she managed to go home with a healthy £32,000 – but early on in her questions, a rouge cough from the audience threatened it all.

As host Jeremy was speaking, a loud cough could be heard from off-screen which immediately pricked Clarkson’s ears up.

He immediately called it out, asking who that had been, though it was clear he was joking, as he pointed out that the cough had come in between questions when Sandra wasn’t even under pressure.

Jeremy’s caution comes after the infamous case of Charles Ingram, who was found guilty of cheating his way to the £1million prize fund back in 2001.

While tonight’s episode was originally broadcast in 2019, the coughing moment was rather fitting after ITV aired Quiz earlier this year.

Quiz followed the Ingrams’ alleged cheating – from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’s inception to the trial.

The mini-series starred Matthew Macfadyen as Charles Ingram, Sian Clifford as his wife Diana Ingram and Michael Sheen as former host Chris Tarrant.

Viewers were full of compliments for the show, with many applauding Michael Sheen’s portrayal of Chris Tarrant.

This year saw the quiz show return for its 34th series, ending last month.

Nobody won the top prize, but one did walk away with a whopping £500,000.

Retired GP Andrew Townsley won the half-a-million – but he could’ve taken away the top prize.

He knew the correct answer for the £1m but refused to risk losing it and dropping back to his safety net of £64,000.
