Ricky Gervais is reportedly putting pen to paper right now to come up with a Christmas special for his Netflix show After Life.
The 58-year-old comedian has seen so much success from the programme that the streaming platform recently announced it was renewing the show for a third series.
It comes after the second season aired in April and was widely praised by critics and fans alike.
And now, fans could see Ricky appear as his character Tony Johnson even sooner than we thought as it is reported he is “writing a Christmas special”.

With season three not due out until 2021, its a special that will certainly delight fans.
According to The Sun, a source has claimed that there will be a one hour Christmas special.
The source said: “Ricky is a huge asset to Netflix as everything he writes essentially turns to gold.
“There is such a huge appetite for After Life and it’s got a massive fanbase.
“The third series won’t air until 2021 so there is a meeting in the diary to see if Ricky could create the Christmas special.”
The source added that the current coronavirus pandemic could put a spanner in the works however for this Christmas.
However, the insiders says there are hopes that camera tricks and social distance filming, similar to that being employed by soaps including Coronation Street and Neighbours, could be implemented.

Back in 2018 Ricky signed a deal to work with Netflix on his first sitcom with the streaming service.
It has been reported the comedian was awarded a £5million contract to write a third season of the show.
After Life is filmed on location in North London and at Pinewood film studios in Buckinghamshire.
