Piers Morgan slammed Home Secretary Priti Patel as she branded the tearing down of the Edward Colston statue during Black Lives Matter protests “utterly disgraceful”.
The statue of the slave trader was dragged down during demonstrations in Bristol yesterday, and host Piers Morgan was raging at Priti Patel’s response to the powerful statement.
In a fiery rant on today’s Good Morning Britain, Piers raged: “For Priti Patel to be outraged, outraged, this week of all weeks, outraged, most I’ve heard her outraged, about that statue being put into the water in a week when there have been global protests about the death of a Black man at the hands of a racist policeman.
“That’s what outrages you? Priti Patel? Really?”

He continued saying that the Home Secretary should have said she “completely understands why there are Black people in Britain who feel offended having to walk under a statue of Edward Colston”.
Thousands attended Black Lives Matter demonstrations over the weekend in the UK to demonstrate against the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis white police officer, who pressed his knee into his neck for eight minutes despite him repeatedly saying: “I can’t breathe.”

Piers Morgan said he is “proud” of his son, Stanley, who took to the streets of London twice over the weekend to join the Black Lives Matter demonstrations.
Taking to Twitter, Piers told his 7.5m followers: “Proud of my son for attending the #BlackLivesMatter protest which he found profoundly inspiring.
“He told me he maintained social distancing as best he could in the large crowd. Not easy given many others weren’t, but I’m glad he tried.”

Piers’ 22-year-old son also shared a link to a video raising funds for the Black Lives Matter movement.
Alongside the clip, he typed: “Seeing this in person was one of the most moving experiences of my life. But feeling is not enough.
“Action is the only way we can truly stand up and fix the pain and misery we have caused. Please educate, donate, sign petitions, vote NOW.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
