Strictly Anton Du Beke’s son George, 3, rushed to hospital for operation

Anton Du Beke has revealed his son was taken to hospital for an operation.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional pulled the plug on his online dance fitness class today because his three-year-old son George has been taken ill with a mystery illness.

Taking to Instagram, the father-of-two apologised for his absence and thanked the NHS for looking after the family.

He tweeted: “So sorry my loves, I won’t be able to take today’s classes as little George has had an operation and a short stay in hospital – but don’t worry, he’s all ok now!

“A huge thank you to all the brilliant NHS doctors and nurses for looking after us – you’re all simply amazing. Anton XX.”

Since his posted the news on social media, the 53-year-old was inundated with messages of support form his online following.

One wrote: “Oh Anton, so sorry to hear little George has been in hospital, but very glad he’s ok. Much love and virtual hugs.”

“Aww poor little George. Wishing him a speedy recovery,” another penned.

And a third wrote: “Glad George is okay sending you all love.”

Anton previously opened up about lockdown life with his partner Hannah Summers and their two children, George and Henriette.

With time on his side, the much-loved Strictly favourite revealed he’s been trying to potty train his youngsters, but is finding it quite a challenge.

“Toilet training is ­definitely ­harder than Strictly,” he said.

Speaking to Steph McGovern on The Steph show, he explained: “There are more accidents with toilet training than with Strictly, and I’m more of an expert in Strictly than I am with diaper training.

“I didn’t get them to understand the concept of saying ‘Dad, I want to pee’ before I have a pee.”

“They surprise you every day with the wonderful things they say and do and I’m having the best time.”

In an interview with The Sunday People, Anton opened up about his Strictly career, and after 16 years on the show, admitted that he isn’t going anywhere.

Earlier this year, Kevin Clifton and AJ Pritchard both announced they are bowing out of the dancing competition, but Anton confessed he’s here to stay.

He said: “I didn’t see it coming and I haven’t spoken to any of them. Will they regret it? It depends.

“Strictly, it’s a big machine and when you have the opportunity to get involved, it’s like the best gift you’ve ever received.

“I feel so lucky to have been there from the start and I never played with the idea of leaving because I love to do it.”
