Kate Garraway has revealed how children are staying in touch with their dad Derek Draper as he continues to remain in a critical condition in hospital.
The Good Morning Britain host, who shares Billy, 10, and Darcy, 14, with her husband, recently opened up about her Derek’s health and said he has regained a minimum state of consciousness after being taken out of a medically induced coma.
Thanks to technology and NHS staff, Billy and Darcy have been managing to keep in touch with their father.
“We’re keeping positive and doing everything we can to bring him round,” Kate told Hello! magazine.

The TV host explained how a nurse holds up an iPad to Derek’s bed in intensive care so that the kids are able to communicate.
Derek was admitted into hospital in March after contracting coronavirus and was soon taken into intensive care after his health deteriorated.
Kate previously revealed Derek is free of the virus, but the disease has “wreaked extraordinary damage” on his body.

Elsewhere in the interview, the former I’m A Celeb star explained how the doctors warned her Derek’s condition could last for years as he starts his long road to recovery.
She continued: “But the doctors have warned that his condition could persist for years so I have to get on with life whilst we are waiting for him to get better.”
Kate admitted she is going to be heading back to her presenting duties on Good Morning Britain along with her slot on Smooth Radio in a bid to provide a routine for both herself and two children.
“They’ve told me that I need to go back to work and create a routine in our lives again.
“The children and Derek are all I’ve thought about and they’re the most important people in my life, but I must create structure and normality for the children, to clean the bath, put the plates in the dishwasher, and tidy the house.”
Kate explained son Billy is starting school in September, but doctors informed her Derek won’t be out of hospital by then.
