Today marks the ninth anniversary of the death of tragic star Amy Winehouse.

Amy, who was 27 when she died, had battled addiction issues for years.

She was pronounced dead at the scene on July 23, 2011.

An inquest later found she had died from alcohol poisoning.

The star had consumed five times the legal drink drive limit, and a ruling of death by misadventure was given.

A few years later, he ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil spoke out about their marriage – and one of his biggest regrets during their relationship.

The pair went their separate ways in 2009, two years before Amy’s death.

Opening on The Jeremy Kyle Show, Blake told that he wishes he hadn’t introduced her to heroin.

“I’d taken it about three or four times,” he recalled in 2013, “we were in a hotel in east London and I think I had about £10 of heroin with me, which was something I used to do after a club.

“I was smoking it on foil and she said, ‘can I try some?’ I think I might have put up a weak resistance, the fact is whatever I said she did end up having some.”

Asked if he believed it was a crossroads in Amy’s life, Blake responded: “Well, yeah.”

He added: “We were using it once a week for about two to three weeks, to then twice a week and it gradually built up like that. We smoked, she never injected it.”

“I have to really sort of conscious about what I say,” Blake continued, “I don’t want to feel like I’m shirking responsibility.

“The fact is, what I’m saying is, of course I regret it, not just because of the damage it caused Amy and the loss of life, but the damage to her family but also the damage to my family and to me.”

Earlier today, Amy’s mum Janis shared a heartbreaking tribute to her daughter to mark the nine years since her death.

Sharing a photo of a candle burning beside a pair of Amy’s shoes, she wrote: “Love Janis Xxx.”

Janis has since been flooded with messages of support, replying to many fans to thank them for their kind words.

“Thinking of you and the family,” one offered, to which Janis replied: “Big thanks to you and all the wonderful winettes, love Janis xxx.”
