Emmerdale's Danny Miller apologises after calling shop worker a 'skanky woman'

Emmerdale star Danny Miller has apologised after he called a Greggs worker a “skanky woman” in a tweet, which has since been deleted.

The 29-year-old actor, who has played the character of Aaron Dingle for the past 12 years on the ITV soap, originally gave out about the shop worker after she asked him to “smile”.

Danny explained he had been suffering from a “bit of anxiety” when he visited Greggs, only for the person working there to ask him to “cheer up”.

In the since-deleted tweet, he wrote: “Suffering with a bit of anxiety today and so not my normal self I feel.

“Then some skanky woman working @GreggsOfficial ‘cheer up don’t be so miserable. Smile!!

Danny later decided to take down the tweet, explaining his actions in an apology (Image: DannyBMiller/Twitter)

“You know what, Karen… Why don’t you F*** off you insensitive, horrible woman. Be nice. Or don’t say anything. (sic)”

The soap star later went back over his words, revealing he had decided to remove the tweet and apologising for any offence caused.

He said: “Taken the tweet down because it was unfairly worded and I was just wound up, so wasn’t a true representation of what I wanted to say. Which was;

“Please think before you tell someone to ‘Cheer up and don’t be miserable’.

“They just might be. Sorry & thanks for the love [love heart emoji].”

Danny later added to the apology, saying: “It wasn’t the best wording but I standby how it made me feel in front of the whole shop as I was leaving, red faced and mortified. Focus on that publicly pointing out someone’s mood, than what I said.”

The apology comes after Danny opened up about his character’s fate in the Yorkshire dales, hinting Aaron might finally move on from his marriage.

Speaking to Radio Times, Danny hinted another love interest could be on the cards, with Aaron’s ex-husband Robert Sugden behind bars for murder.

He said: “I’d love to see him move on a little bit. I genuinely don’t know what is in store as lots of things were obviously chopped and changed because of Covid.

“I know there was possibly a new arrival coming in, whether that was romantic or not I’m not sure and now it’ll be difficult to do a romantic storyline without any kissing!”
