Sacha Baron Cohen told to stay out of Kazakhstan as Borat sequel sparks fury

Sacha Baron Cohen has been told to stay out of Kazakhstan after releasing his second Borat movie.

The star, 49, brought back his fictional Kazakh journalist for a surprise second outing.

Since its release last week, it has already caused controversy in America.

Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani dismissed as a “complete fabrication” a clip appearing to show him with hands down his trousers.

And the character has once again not gone down well in Kazakhstan.

Scottish footballer Stuart Duff had a spell playing for Kairat Almaty in Kazakhstan and said: “Borat was all I knew about Kazakhstan before I came.

“I asked one or two guys (about Borat) and it was frowned upon.

“It upset them. They hate it.

“The films give a look about Kazakhstan that isn’t true and that’s what upset them.

“They are quite patriotic.

“They don’t talk about it.

“I wouldn’t recommend that guy come back.”

The scene with Mr Giuliani sees him being interviewed in a hotel room about the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The young actress then invites Mr Giuliani, 76, to join her for a drink. After his microphone is taken off, he lies down on the bed and appears to be putting his hands inside his trousers.

Referring to that clip, Mr Giuliani tweeted: “At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate. If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar.”
