Britney Spears ’ dad has hit back at attacks from the #FreeBritney movement, insisting that he has always done what is best for her.
Jamie Spears issued a statement about his daughter’s care and conservatorship after weeks of pressure from campaigners and the recent airing of documentary Framing Britney Spears.
The pop star, 39, had wanted him to be removed as a conservator, but a judge ordered her father and Bessemer Trust will have equal power over her finances.
And Jamie insists that the Los Angeles Superior Court’s rulings prove that they do not believe he is out to do her any harm.

In a statement from his lawyer, Vivian Lee Thoreen, he insisted the shared conservatorship over Britney was in the star’s “best interests”.
Ms Thoreen said in the statement: “My client, Jamie Spears, has diligently and professionally carried out his duties as one of Britney’s conservators and his love for his daughter and dedication to protecting her is clearly apparent to the court.

“My client looks forward to working with Bessemer to continue an investment strategy in the best interests of his daughter.
“The probate court is highly experienced in these matters and takes them very seriously.”
Last week’s decision came after Jamie submitted a proposed order where he argued that some of his powers were stripped away when he and Bessemer Trust became co-conservators in November.

Meanwhile, Britney’s lawyers have noted on several occasions that she does not want her father as a co-conservator.
However, her conservatorship was extended until September.
The next LA court date in the matter is set for March 17.
This week, the documentary Framing Britney Spears premiered in the UK and broke Sky’s viewing figure record in less than 24 hours.
