Lord Sugar speaks out on Piers Morgan GMB exit as he says star 'pushed his luck'

Lord Sugar has said Piers Morgan “pushed his luck” after ITV confirmed the controversial presenter had quit Good Morning Britain.

Piers has left the show with immediate effect, his co-star Lorraine Kelly has confirmed, after he sparked fury with a number of controversial comments about Meghan Markle’s appearance on Oprah.

ITV shared a statement which read: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.”ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Lord Sugar and Morgan have shared an infamous feud for years and regularly slam each other on social media.

He wrote on his Twitter page: “Piers Morgan pushed his luck. I think he might have something else lined up watch this space.”

Just an hour earlier, Lord Sugar also posted: “Alex hit a nerve @piersmorgan was snubbed by Meghan after he thought she was a friend of his after having a few drinks. Where Morgan is right she just dumps people.”

The two rivals, who had a bitter fall out over Covid last year, appear to not be on speaking terms after sharing a number of furious exchanges on social media.

However, Lord Sugar backed Piers in his comments about Meghan, as the BBC star also accused Meghan of lying about her mental health battle.

Meghan had said that she had experience mental health struggles and was even suicidal while she was a senior member of the royal family, and had gone to ‘the institution’ to tell them she needed help.

However, Meghan claims that she was told she couldn’t get any professional help for her struggles, as the palace were worried about how it would look to the outside world.

Lord Sugar tweeted: “I do not believe she was not allowed to seek medical attention . That is a blatant lie.”

He also posted in response to a fan: “You are missing the point Meghan said she was not allowed to seek medical attention. That is double barrel BS.”

Piers had also shared his controversial thoughts about Meghan’s mental health battle on GMB, saying: “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she says.

“I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report.”

Ofcom has confirmed it is launching an investigation into Piers’ remarks after receiving 41,000 complaints, stating: “We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain under our harm and offence rules.”

GMB continues tomorrow at 6am on ITV.
