Hollywood star Halle Berry has fired back at radio host Rob Lederman, branding him “disgusting” after he compared famous black women to toast.
The inappropriate conversation took place on an episode of The Morning Bull Show in the US.
Rob even admitted to his co-hosts Rich “Bull” Gaenzler and Chris Klein that he “may get into trouble for this” but still opted to continue with airing his views anyway.
When describing his toast preferences, he said: “I will never go to a Serena Williams level.
“I’m very comfortable at a Halle Berry level. I need a little bit mulatto still coming through.”
Egging him on, Chris Klein asked: “Is Gayle King in your realm?”
To which Lederman responded: “Gayle King is not even on my toaster level.”
Before long, ESPN reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques had stumbled across the discussion and decided to use his social media platform to re-circulate the clip.
His tweet read: “Didn’t hear this live but internet keeps receipts.
“@97RockBuffalo morning hosts compared how they like their toast to Black women’s skin tone. So, just in case y’all missed it too, take a listen.”
It was this post that caught the attention of Hollywood actress Halle Berry.
Retweeting Marcel’s original content, she hit back: “Disgusting. It’s ridiculous this type of nonsense is still being broadcasted across airwaves.
“All Black women are beautiful and worthy, Rob Lederman GTFOH.”
After the snippet had sparked public outrage, Cumulus Media stepped forward to announce that Rob had been fired as a result of his actions.
Their statement read: “Cumulus Media operates from a clearly defined set of programming principles, and there is no question that Rob Lederman’s comments made on The Morning Bull Show are in direct violation of those principles.
“We swiftly terminated him and suspended the remainder of the show’s on-air talent.
“We apologise, and deeply regret the incident.”
