Good Morning Britain fans were convinced that they’d rumbled Richard Arnold’s April Fool’s Day Prank attempt.
The showbiz television presenter, 51, unveiled a new programme called Dove Island which appeared to be an animal spoof of ITV’s Love Island but for birds instead.
Introducing the new show, Richard told fans to forget about Love Island as he excitedly spoke about “Dove Island”.
Eagle-eyed viewers were not buying into the concept and remembered that it’s April 1st today.
Taking to Twitter, fans called out Richard for attempting the ‘worst’ gag ever.
One tweet read: Worst attempt at April’s fools joke ever. #GMB
A second penned: “#GMB….errr April Fool Dove island”
Another added: “Hahaha Dove Island. NICE TRY! APRIL FOOLS. #gmb”
While a forth fumed: “#GMB do you think we are stupid? Dove Island? #AprilFoolsDay.”
Richard read from the autocue: “I have a very exciting and exclusive announcement to make because following on from the success of Love Island, ITV has now commissioned a new budget dating show with a twist.”
Trying to withhold his laughter, her said: “With entertainment experts using the tried and tested formula to help birds find the one on the new show Dove Island.”
He went on: “It apparently comes after a year of lockdown which has seen the species become so lonely that tele bosses are now hoping that they can help birds of a feather flock together once again.
“With the show taking place in the Canary Islands, though Turkey was also considered I’m told.”
Richard continued: “An ITV spokesperson said ‘We’ve got a brand new entertainment show in the works called Dove Island that flies in the face of convention fusing the dating reality and nature format.'”
As the camera returned to the studio, Richard could barely contain his laughter which made viewers suspicious of the gag.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
