Today sees Hollywood’s finest come out in full force for 2021’s SAG Awards, a welcome event after a year of cancellations.
A host of big names have been nominated for awards, from Olivia Colman in The Father to Sacha Baron Cohen in The Trial of the Chicago 7, Carey Mulligan in Promising Young Woman to the late Chadwick Boseman in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
Unfortunately, we may have to wait another year for the ceremony to be fully back to normal, as Covid has forced the organisers’ hand in making the ceremony only an hour, a hybrid approach of live and virtual.
So in honour of times past and anticipation of times ahead, we thought we’d delve into the SAG history books – and find its hottest red carpet looks ever.
Sofia Vergara, 2016
It’s no secret that Modern Family star Sofia’s wardrobe has always been on point.
Sofia showed up representing the Modern Family cast and crew after the fake documentary comedy was nominated for the Best Ensemble Award.
Her flowing purple gown on the red carpet in 2016, paired with heavy jewellery and light makeup, was another winner for the Colombian beauty.
The star looked absolutely sensational in the vibrant pink frock – another in her long list of Red Carpet-winning gowns.
She showed up with hunky hubby Joe Manganiello wearing the hell out of a tux and some trimmed facial scruff.
Sofia and Joe will this year mark their sixth wedding anniversary.
They tied the knot in a 2015 ceremony at oceanside resort Breakers.
Mila Kunis, 2011
Ukrainian-born Mila boasts classic beauty, with smouldering features and effortlessly tousled brunette locks.
She was up for two awards for her steamy role across from Natalie Portman in Black Swan, the Cast in a Motion Picture and the Female Actor in a Supporting Role awards.
In 2011, her strapless red dress which was embellished with black flowers was a blend of classic style and summer chic.
The Bad Moms star has since gone on to tie the knot with Ashton Kutcher, with whom she shares two kids.
In 2013 she was named Sexiest Woman Alive by FHM, and well as earning the title of the “perfect girlfriend.”
Kate Hudson, 2010
US actress Kate accentuated her natural beauty with a light layer of make-up, her blonde tresses pulled back in a stylish, loose bun.
Kate and the cast of Nine were nominated for Best Cast, the actress stunning in the backless Emilio Pucci dress.
The daughter of Goldie Hawn went for a sheer, backless dress, at times casting a glance over her shoulder to the cameras.
Media at the time were left stunned by the look, branding “sparkling” Kate “absolutely gorgeous”.
Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox, 1999
For many young lads in the 90s, Friends actresses Jen and Courtney were the original heartthrobs.
Back in 1999, they were joined by their Friends co-stars as they made those same young lads hot under the collar, representing the show for the Ensemble Cast in a Comedy Series category.
As two of the biggest stars in the world, they showed their humility by flashing charming smiles at the camera.
Jen ditched her underwear as she opted for a two-piece top-skirt ensemble, while Courtney went for a black leather dress.
At the time Jen was dating Brad Pitt, who she tied the knot with the next year, whole Courtney married David Arquette that same year.
Both couples ended up splitting, Brad and Jen going their separate ways in 2005 and Courtney and David doing the same in 2013.
Scarlett Johansson, 2020
Scarlett has become renowned for her red carpet looks, and 2020 was no exception.
In a plunging metallic green gown, Scarlett applied an understated red lipstick and won the carpet.
The A-lister will soon be back on our screens for her final turn as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a film much-delayed because of Covid.
Considered one of the sexiest women in Hollywood, Scarlett and SNL funnyman Colin Jost got hitched late last year in an intimate ceremony.
The wedding was revealed by Meals on Wheels America, the charity they’d chosen to support as part of their nuptials.
“Their wedding wish is to help make a difference for vulnerable older adults during this difficult time by supporting @mealsonwheelsamerica,” the charity announced on social media.
Eva Longoria, 2006
Back in 2006, Eva stepped out of the limo in an off-the-shoulder, sparkling gown.
Victoria Beckham’s BFF was experiencing the height of Desperate Housewives’ soaring success at the time, and as such was one of the most recognisable faces in TV.
Eva’s become renowned for her red carpet fashion sense, bringing with her an assistant to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival to arrange her gown’s long train.
Angelina Jolie, 2012
Angelina channelled her inner Maleficent for the 2012 carpet.
The Hollywood royalty chose a raven-black dress from her wardrobe that hung about her neck and showed off her toned back (and tattoos).
She wore her brunette hair loose, letting it flow down her back.
Angelina was dating Brad Pitt at the time, who she wed two years later.
She filed for divorce in 2016.
